Thank yoooooooou!! You are a beautiful tosser.

Oblomov · 05/03/2014 06:56

I use the i-phone app. Mostly.
The pictures do not show. And there is nothing to show that a picture has been posted.
No indication at all.

People are chatting about something that you have no idea about.
the thread is totally un-follow-able.

Angry

It totally ruins it for me.

Is utterly utterly total shit.

I mean seriously.
Rubbish

MNHQ?

Are you going to give me the usual drivel of 'sometime soon'?

Am beyond NARKED.

Hi Oblamov,
Yes, you're quite right, the app is a bit limited and certainly not as good as it should be. Apologies for that.

It's been a bit of a development lesson for us, really - we outsourced the development thinking it would be most cost effective and now we're stuck with a huge bill every time we want to make the smallest change to keep it up to date with the site. Consequently we've decided to do two things:

  1. develop an ad-free native talk app for Mumsnet in-house and charge a subscription for it
  2. develop a really fabulous Talk mobile site with some app-like functionality that contains ads but free to use.

We want to release these things together so that there's an excellent, viable, free version available at the same time as the subscription, ad-free version.

So all that means that it's a bit of a project. I'm hopeful that we are only weeks off putting out a beta version of the app for testing with a group of users, though. Obviously we'll keep you posted on that. Let me know if you'd like to get a first go at it and be part of the testing group to put it through it's paces.

Giraffeski · 11/03/2014 18:06

I would like to be a tester please.
I also have no objection in principle to paying for a decent app- but it would have to have much better functionality that the current one.
Would it be a monthly sub or a one off fee for the app?

JustineMumsnet · 11/03/2014 18:16

I'd imagine a monthly sub but it's not quite nailed down yet - it's something we'll no doubt consult on as part of the testing - and agree it will have to be very good. Have noted your availability for testing (thanks)

Giraffeski · 11/03/2014 18:21

Thanks :)
I live on my iphone and tablet

TacitusMouse · 15/03/2014 20:32

Oh I'd also be happy to be a tester as I'd love the app to work better!

pootlebug · 24/04/2014 16:39

Also happy to be a tester if you need more
