So I come back to find that you have deleted my thread asking why my Santa thread was deleted.

Of course it was a thread about a thread, it was asking a question about the thread.

Wtf else is one supposed to do?

I put it in site stuff.

It was also a really nice friendly thread full of poetry and laughs. Why why why why was it deleted? What the hell is going on there?

Secondly, if one wants to talk about something, and that something has been deleted purely owing to others mischief, does that mean that one is never to talk about that subject again??

How mad is that?

So we should be grateful that MNHQ turned up to the meet up?

I couldn't go

RowanMumsnet · 05/12/2013 22:51

@Hullygully

BUT IT WASN'T A SODDING BUNFIGHT!!!

And I for one have not been rude about anyone.

Well we'll take another look - but in the first analysis it looks as though we disagree with you

Snargaluff · 05/12/2013 22:51

Personal comments about the mnhq staff on this thread are so out of order, Rowan is right.

Of course not!

Whoops - iPad charging issues here meaning I am commenting on posts made hours ago Blush

Hullygully · 05/12/2013 22:52

Are you not individuals anymore?

OP posts:
RowanMumsnet · 05/12/2013 22:52

@Hullygully

Rowan, that means I can never start threads, you see that, don't you?

No, we don't see that at all

Hullygully · 05/12/2013 22:52

"gave up their Friday evening"

was very unfortunate wording

but unlike that accorded to me, I will give you the benefit of the doubt

OP posts:
SconeForAStroll · 05/12/2013 22:53

How bad could it possibly have got?

Was there Aheming and Peace and Love bombing tried or was it straight to the bug red button?

It just seems another situation where locking the thread would have prevented all this angst.

usualsuspect · 05/12/2013 22:53

I may be being thick here again but wtf has the meet up got to do with this?

HootShoot · 05/12/2013 22:54

Clearly this isn't my battle but didn't someone say earlier that they were there at the death of the first thread and they weren't surprised it was deleted as it was a bun fight?

ExitPursuedByAChristmasGrinch · 05/12/2013 22:54

Liking the idea of a bug button

Fair point

The invitation was kindly and generously extended to MNHQers and several of us very happily attended

What I'm objecting to is that in doing so they unwittingly laid themselves open to having aspersions cast on their professional ability

BriarcliffBelle · 05/12/2013 22:55

Hullygully · 05/12/2013 22:55

hoot, it wasn't a bunfight when I left, just lots of people calling me silly names

that's why it's annoying, I can't stop them doing that, but then the thread is deleted for being a "bunfight"

OP posts:
Hullygully · 05/12/2013 22:56

I really don't think there were briar, people were pleased to meet them

OP posts:
thecatfromjapan · 05/12/2013 22:56

Yes. Exactly.

Infuriating because I read that at a point when I was scrabbling around for time-to-think, and I had to fight so many different institutions, deep-rooted ideas and prejudices, people, and stuff to get that time. And even then, it wasn't the absolutely free time that Eliot (or rather, the author he was discussing) was talking about. It was still time that had been stamped and authorised (as it were), legitimised for thinking about one specific thing. So still this "utilitarian" time, in a way.

And, of course, that experience of time is (I would say) gendered, and the experience of those who work hard, and (I would say) the experience particularly of mothers ... so I was furious with him.

And then my second thought was that that was exactly where a really radical possibility in the idea lay ...

(... = Thought I Process/Not Finished)

You see, all that

Blistory · 05/12/2013 22:56

So the first thread was deleted for turning into a bunfight - got that.

The second thread was deleted because Hully asked in the title why her first thread was deleted - and MNHQ think that was inflammatory because you already explained the reason in the deletion message - got that

So if the second thread was simply Hully starting a continued thread , it would have be fine ?

So it wasn't because it was a thread about a thread specifically ? So it was more the title than the content that got it deleted ?

Because this is getting difficult to follow.

ExitPursuedByAChristmasGrinch · 05/12/2013 22:57

Shouldn't it be mince pies now? If I can mention Christmas?

usualsuspect · 05/12/2013 22:57

I was on the end of that thread, it was much like a lot of threads it got a bit arsey at one point but was fine at the time it was deleted.

It was like mnhq cba with it.

Hullygully · 05/12/2013 22:57

Ah, now if you feel angry about that, Rowan, because you feel it unfair and out of order, can you understand about how I feel about the aspersions cast on my intentions on the threads under discussion?

OP posts:
RowanMumsnet · 05/12/2013 22:58

Yes, it may well be that locking it would have been better and we will try to do that more often.

As RebeccaMN said earlier, we had a software failure yesterday that meant that we couldn't deal with incoming reports in our normal way for about 10 working hours.

When our system recovered at around 5pm, we had an enormous backlog to deal with.

In this context, the MNHQer dealing with this one - who had a mountain of possibly more urgent and/or sensitive stuff to deal with - decided that deleting was the better part of valour. As it had, in our opinion, become a bunfight.

Hullygully · 05/12/2013 22:59
