High-lighting a single poster in each thread

lljkk · 23/03/2013 09:46

Could we have a button to select a single poster and then hilight just their posts in the thread (like OP can now appear in green & my posts in whatever colour I choose).

the hilighted posts could all be in pale yellow, maybe, along with other colour fills. The hilight could be temporary, just for the single page or view of that thread, not all their threads.

So when someone has posted & then gets jumped on we can all easily read just that person's posts and what exactly they said vs. what everyone else is arguing about that they didn't say.

I know seaching for the poster's name is just as effective, but I think that's too technically advanced for some MNers.

Sorry if this has already been suggested, seems like a good idea to me.

I am thinking this will come under 'hide a poster' button and be an automatic no.

Not a bad idea, however.

And I am worried if searching a page is too technical for people on MN.

Why don't you just hit control+F (find on page) and then type in the person's username, or cut and paste it? That has the same result.

lljkk · 23/03/2013 13:07

It is easier to find OP's posts if they are hilighted, even easier than ctrl-F, because it skips all the replies.
We still get "I can't be asked to google" queries, so yeah, folk are not as techie savvy as you'd think.

Right - but I think the MNHQ techies have enough to do without spending time making an idiot button to do something that can already be done with just a few keystrokes... Hmm

Tee2072 · 23/03/2013 15:18

Not being arsed (which is what I assume you meant rather than 'asked') is not the same as not be able to do something.

Laziness is not a reason to add to Tech's load, as Holla said!

We'll put it to the commitee Smile
