Because it's so slow I'm managing to slurp a lot of Wine while pages are loading, which might be a worry later on tonight.

Tee2072Thing · 29/12/2012 20:14

Like molasses tonight.

BOFingSanta · 29/12/2012 20:14

I think the servers must be overloaded because the telly is so rubbish.

Tee2072Thing · 29/12/2012 20:18

So we should blame the BBC, BOF? Grin

CatherineMumsnet · 29/12/2012 21:16

Should be working ok now - and lol to BOF

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 29/12/2012 21:21

dh is watching rugby - in Irish Hmm.

So yy to shite tv.

Thanks, Catherine Xmas Smile

LadyBeagleBaublesandBells · 29/12/2012 21:55

I'm watching Lord of The Rings.
Do you speak Irish Maryz?

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 29/12/2012 22:01

Not if I can possibly avoid it LBE.

And even then, very little.

Nor can the vast majority of the population, but unfortunately TG4 (the Irish station) has acquired the rights to the rugby, so I have to listen to it most Friday nights Hmm.

And I wouldn't mind if the kids learned anything from it (Irish is compulsory at school so being able to understand a rugby match would be theoretically useful) but ds2 insists on listening to the English radio commentary on his ipod at the same time [mutter].

OP posts:
LadyBeagleBaublesandBells · 29/12/2012 22:10

Yes, I knew it was compulsory in schools.
My Irish friends could never speak it either.

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 29/12/2012 22:11

It's one of those ridiculous things education boards do. Make it compulsory, so everyone hates it, so no-one learns it Hmm.

A bit of a bone of contention in this house.

Twas rugby ( x 2 ) in our house too! DH delighted with the Munster win, not so much the Leinster score so turned over half way through... To something about the Von Trapps! Saturday night tv has def gone on holiday for Christmas.

Came to bed in the end to surf MN... Still seems a bit slow tho

CatherineMumsnet · 29/12/2012 22:46

Can we just say HA and BRAVO to ItLooksLikeRainDear

We've alerted tech

ItLooksLikeRainDear · 29/12/2012 22:52

Why thank you Catherine!

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 29/12/2012 23:12

ds2 was at the Leinster match, so was delighted with the win obviously.

Catherine, is Tech still recovering from Christmas day? We wouldn't want to upset him.

Learning Irish sounds just like the time, effort and money that is wasted ramming Welsh down the throats of a totally apathetic majority.

I confess I LOL when I read that the censes (sp) results recorded less people considering themselves Welsh speakers now than before the Welsh assembly blackmailed 100% English speaking parents to send their DCs to Welsh medium schools.
