I am getting very annoyed. If I leave the curser on an 'active' link, it automatically goes to that page. So I am reading the titles of the AIBU list and it suddenly goes to one of them because the curser was on it.
Same with the adverts on the side etc...

Could you stop that please? If I want to go somewhere, I want to do it because I choose to not because I happen to have my curser on it for a bit!

This happens to me, but it happens on other sites too I think. I assumed it was just my incompetence with a laptop.

SoupDragon · 05/01/2012 19:20

Isn't that to do with the settings on your computer?

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 05/01/2012 19:23

So it's my computer that's incompetent, not me?

redlac · 05/01/2012 19:30

It's your settings not anything mn has set up

ChristmasIsGone · 05/01/2012 19:31

I never ever had that problem on other websites and I've never had that problem on MN before either.

As I haven't changed the settings of my computer, I assume that it's something to do with MN website?

Have you let Microsoft automatically update? Have you updated or changed your browser?

ChristmasIsGone · 05/01/2012 19:35

No change of browser. No idea re update as I've read recently that microsoft is doing updates wo telling the users.

Microsoft could have updated automatically. The computer is on the original settings and i've never looked at that (It never told me it had updated or asked for it though)

Hello
It sounds v unlikely to be something at our end - as we know that kind of thing is Rather Annoying, so we're sorry to hear about this.
Which browser are you using?

RustyBear · 05/01/2012 19:52

If it's Windows 7 try this:

Entering the Ease of Access Center
Close any open programs or files. Click "Start," then "Control Panel." Click on the "Ease of Access" icon. The Ease of Access Center application opens.

Disabling Auto-Select
Click on the link "Make the mouse easier to use." Click on the check box next to the wording "Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse" to deselect this option and turn Auto-Select off. Click "Apply," then "OK" to close the Ease of Access Center and return to your computer's "Desktop." Auto-Select is now disabled and you must now actually click on the folder or file you would like to open.

Rusty thank for the explaination. I've had a look at it and the option was not selected.
Olivia, I am happy if this is on my end (and sorry for the gramble if it is).
I am on internet explorer 9.
