Campaign about child support

hiddenhome · 20/11/2011 13:35

I started a thread about child support and a few people expressed an interest in starting a campaign.

I'd be interested in doing this, but don't know how.

Anybody else interested?

Hi there. Feel free to drop a mail to our Campaigns team ([email protected]) to see if it's something they'd take on.

The CSA has NO powers at all to enforce maintenence. Even when ds's dad ignored them, eventually saying he had no job despite not signing on, there was nothign they could, or more likely wanted, to do. They didn't even pass his details to be investigated as working cash in hand as that was a data protection issue. FFS. I hate dealing wiht them, it just frustrates me no end. There are simple things they could employ to make the system work. But they choose not to. The government, and society at large, let's be honest, just doens't care about the parents who turn their back on their children. It's become far too accpetable.

hiddenhome · 21/11/2011 15:58

I will message the campaign team in a few days because I'm at work at the moment.

The CSA really are a farce Sad

Me too. That was a sad thread.

I agree with what someone was saying about making it socially unacceptable to dodge CSA (ie its not going to the government, its going to your children you numpties) like drink driving is now pretty much frowned upon. Like the "Men, Don't Rape Women" thing instead of targetting women to keep safe.

hiddenhome · 21/11/2011 23:17

Trouble is, in this current economic climate I doubt that any government would really sanction any changes to strengthen the CSA's powers. Absent fathers make up a fair proportion of the electorate so which political party is going to want to upset them? Sad Do our votes have as much value?

Robotindisguise · 21/11/2011 23:27

Actually, that point about how not supporting your children should be as beyond the pale as drink driving has been made by Cameron before so you could be pushing at an open door...

effingwotsits · 21/11/2011 23:28

I'm in!
