I need to take the kids abroad on my own and was thinking of these. Has anyone used them and would you recommend them or are they a bit of a gimmick?

My sil recently sent me a video for these to see if we could find one for her (she lives abroad) and I think they look pretty good. If they meet the safety requirements they should be fine, surely? The only downside is that they might be a bit on the heavy side for a children's backpack, so worth finding one in the flesh I guess.

I haven't started looking for them yet, so this has reminded me. HTH

I've got one for dd to take on holiday next month. It is fairly hefty and the space inside isn't huge as most of it is taken up with the structure of the seat. But they would be able to put some junk it in. When set up as a booster it looks and feels pretty good.

DD is too young for it actually but it's impossible to take the big car seat and so this was better than nothing. When she's a bit older I think it'll be great.

We have also bought two about a month ago.
Fits dd fine (5) but ds (3) is prob a bit to small (from 4 upwards) BUT like rockbird says its better than nothing.

We are off to Florida in 4 weeks time so wanted it for the car over there and also for use on the plane.

IMO the space inside the case is similar to the old style trunki (we had those) and fits a childs toy, books, dvd etc.
Just enough for travel really.

Obviously not had chance to put them to the test but look fine so far...
