soother/dummy has water in it

hello

I'm not really sure where to put this question so I'm just going to park it here and see what happens...

My DS's dummy got water in it last time I sterilised it, is this normal? Someone told me the water gets in from the back and it doesn't mean the dummy has a hole in the teat. But I'm being cautious as it never happened before so I thought this meant the teat has a hole in it and I can't use its cos DS will suck the water out. But then we just bought some new dummies and the first time I sterilised it the same thing happened. Is it safe to use?

Grateful for any advice, thanks!

Squeeeze it with the sterile tongs and it will come out

It's fine. It wouldn't work properly if it didn't haveholes in the back to allow the teat to be collapsed when sucking. Holes mean water gets in. Structurally inevitable - does not mean there is a fault.

hey guys i just found this comment on the MAM site:

"Before first use and at regular intervals thereafter, boil the soother in water for five minutes or sterilise. Water may enter the teat ? remove by gently squeezing the teat. Occasionally rinse the soother under running water."

yay, there's my answer!!
