I thought I would rephrase this question. Thanks to all who replied to my more general question.

I am about to buy a used car small hatchback preferably, but something good around town, not ginagorous.
I need something into which my Jane Powertrack will fit AND the flipping matrix car seat i.e. with long enough seatbelts.
Can I just ask what other Jane owners drive and what they recommend?

our matrix was brought at the beginning of 2002 and the golf was 2002! not sure if they had changed the size of the golf in those years to be honest.

we took our carseats to the garage with us and tried them in th cars before buying a new car, much to the amusement of the sales man.

although not sure how sensible this was as really wanted a peugeot 307 which they didn't fit in and ended up with a ford mondeo, noe got a focus which isn't much better, just a nicer more sporty model than the mondeo, which i felt was too grown up!

Jane Powertrack fitted in the boot of our p reg astra hatchback if that's any help. You'll have to ask someone about the carseat though as didn't buy that. However, we did get fed up with not much else fitting in the boot and traded it in for a y reg focus estate ... thanks for the buggyboard link by the way, am going to read that right now!

Hi Maisiemog. I have a Saab 93 and my Powertrack fits with the back wheels off it. I also got it into a Polo but it was a performance. I can't help with a Matrix carseat as I had a Rebel and it fitted in the Saab and various other cars that we were passengers in.

Re your query about your front wheel wobbling, that doesn't sound right to me. The guy in the shop I bought mine said I should always use it on swivel, which I do, and any time mine has gone back to the shop for repairs, the problem has been a wobbly front wheel. I was told only to use the fixed setting for 'off-roading'. Your wheel sounds like it might have a problem. Every so often mine has started to wobble and I have taken it in for adjustment.

I had quite a lot of trouble with the front wheel but 17 months on, I still love my Jane.

I love my Jane too.
The Matrix was fab for our teeny tiny baby boy, he slept in it for a few months - it was the only bed he fitted.
The Jane wheel - the only real problem is if I run with the pram it kind of catches and judders, it's fine at normal walking speed. If I have it on fixed, like if I'm walking on rough ground and I run, it doesn't judder?
I'm going to attempt the brake adjustment soon.
I think we're going to end up buying a Vectra, because we know the Pram fits into the back. Mind you we don't know if the upright Matrix will fit??

the matrix car seat does NOt properly fir in aa toyota yaris when its in the 'seat' position!

I ended up buying a Nissan Almera. The Powertrack fits in the boot with one wheel removed. It's not so bad as I take off the wheel once I have placed it in the boot, so I don't have to dance around.
There isn't much room once it's in, a couple of strategically placed shopping bags is my lot.

Oh, and the Matrix didn't fit in the back properly, so ds is in the front seat and mummy's in the back
It goes in quite easily if the seat is to its furthest back position and the seatbelt is adjusted its lowest position.
