Has anyone tried these out and got any recommendations? I am looking to buy one for my 10.5 month old for our holidays later in the summer.

I have 2 and used them a bit on holiday but to be honest didn't have her in the sun for long enough for her to need it, i think they are better for kids who run around in the sun and play in it. Lottie is 18 months and not crawling etc so we sat her in the shade. However when she was in the water and in her little dingy we put one on her. one of middle is a BabbleBoom(?) one from Debenhgam and had a UV hat to match that covered the back oh her neck etc. The other I have is from one of the 30 or so brochures I have at home, I'll try & remeber to bring them into work and give you the website details.

I've bought them from Boots in the past and they always seem to have worked well. There were some websites recommended on other threads. I got one from Debenhams last week (yes, it's Babble Boom) in the sale.

I got DS's 2 piece suit from Tesco, for about £12. He absolutely loves it, as he now associates it with being in the paddling pool. There's no way I'd let him play in the sun in just his swim nappy and suncream, as he wears SPF60 cream on his hands and feet and they're now really brown, so would have hated him to have been burnt anywhere.

Always have a look on ebay too. I got DD's Boots one from there...brand new but only 8 quid!

JanZ · 15/07/2003 14:02

I got a top and bottom separates outfit for ds when he was 11 months old from Blooming Marvellous, and a cut blue and white stripey one piece from John Lewis for a year later - which he can still wear. It makes him look like a wee Victorian child!

Loobie · 15/07/2003 22:21

I got one for dd this year when we went to spain from BHS but i also seen them in asda for both boys and girls to be honest dd was in the shade most of the time so didnt use it much.

LucieB · 16/07/2003 15:39

Thanks for the recommendations. I have seen a blue and white stripey one in Blooming Marvellous which I really like. Its made by Ozone and its probably stocked elsewhere too....

I saw some in my local Early Learning Centre last weekend - not sure how much but they tend to be really reasonable.

Keep an eye out on Ebay . I just bought an 18-24m sunsuit off of there. Some of them go for pretty good prices.

codswallop · 16/07/2003 21:34

Mine had an all in one and he looked a litle well, weird in it. I dont wear one so why should he?

it s like Mums who don't wear bike helmets or hats in the sun but plonk them on their kids heads...What mixed messages we send.

JanZ · 17/07/2003 09:06

LucieB - that's the make my ds has and he looks dead cute in it. We bought it in John Lewis.

SoupDragon · 17/07/2003 09:17

Coddy... a) you know the importance of sunscreen, kids don't b) they have thinner skin and less melanin (I think) than adults so are at greater risk of burning c) it's quicker to put a sun suit on than to cream up a wriggly, sandy child! d) they don't know when to come in from the sun....

I think DS1 and 2 look really cool in theirs - kind of like short surfers in shorty wet suits! I also put DS2 in one when we go to his swimming lessons - he's way too slippery and wriggley otherwise!

As it happens, I do wear a hat in the sun though.

stinky · 17/07/2003 09:44

I got mine from kidskaper. It was the only place I could find that stocked them for 3.5 yo at reasonable prices. I bought it in March when we had all the hot weather and the High Street were a bit behind with their summer stuff. I guess there's a lot more choice now.

DS loves it because it means he has only to have sunscreen on the bits exposed to the sun. He hates having cream on and makes such a fuss so this is an easy safe option.

Marina · 17/07/2003 13:03

LucieB, JanZ, we've had the Ozone suits for ds1 since he was one in various sizes. I am really happy with them because I prefer a cotton mix fabric but much more importantly I love the navy and white striped Edwardian gentleman look!
John Lewis stores stock Ozone suits, by the way, but don't always have the size range or the various colourways in the Urchin and Blooming Marvellous catalogues.

eidsvold · 22/07/2003 12:38

saw these for sale in larger boots that also has baby clothing and some in Marks and Spencer depending on what size you needed.

LucieB · 23/07/2003 09:20

Thanks for all your help. Got the ozone navy and white striped suit in the end - ds looks soooo cute in it, and also got a matching uv hat too!

We have just had a UV from Lion in the Sun delivered today. DD is 15mo and in nappies so we went for a two piece set, with matching hat. She looks very sweet in it. And looks to be of excellent quality.

jennyh · 29/07/2003 18:08

I got mine off the internet from Koolsun - very soft and unsual patterns. Both kids loved them and used them all the time in Portugal. Reasonably priced too compared to some of the other brand. \linkkoolsun.com{}

BearintheBigBlueHous · 30/07/2003 10:45

Second the Koolsun recommendation - dd loved hers and matching hat. Koolsun were really helpful, even calling us up with advice on special sun cream etc.

jennyh · 30/07/2003 12:52

Yes, they were very helpful to me too and happy to exchange the little beach shoes I also bought from them when they didn't fit. Can recommend that suncream too as I bought that aswell!!!
