me and DH have decided we would like a leather sofa in the new house. We both like the corner units, but do they have enough room for 2 adults and 3 kids. I have nearly 500 pounds saved up and think I will have about another 300-400 by the time we move. I want something that will last. Can anyone give any recomendations??

we got ours about 2 yrs ago from MFI's sofa workshop - we paid £1200 but there was 80% off the ticket price otehrwise we wouldn't have got it, was lucky they were doing half price+no VAT then when we paid he took double the VAT off so we weren't moaning!

wouldn't go there again thou v poor service from sofa workshop.

we have that one in chocolate brown and its lovely, what I love about it, is that once the kids have gone to bed we can both lay out on it totally - bliss.... We also have the matching chair and between the lot its plenty of room for us, 2 adults, 2 year old and 3 year old.

Oh yes, particularly the ones with the wooden fiddly bits on the front of the arms, cod.

Have just looked at two corner leather sofas on the Argos site which are just under 600 pounds, what are argos sofas like??

Must admit we have a leather sofa and tis great! although I do like the look of the one with storage in it, n the DFS adverts!

MascaraOHara · 16/08/2005 11:27

what are big scrotum sofas?

sparklymieow · 16/08/2005 11:27

this one or this one

quite like this one but DH doesn't!

I'd really like a sofa made out of that courd-type material but can imagine it would look nice for long with dd.

sparklymieow · 16/08/2005 11:29

I have two 3 seaters made of that atm, MOH and it looks terrible....... The kids split drinks on it, and rub their grubby hands on it and I am always removing the covers and washing it

OP posts:
MascaraOHara · 16/08/2005 11:31

yeah that's what I thought it would be like with dd (hence not having one)

sparklymieow · 16/08/2005 11:34

its very comfortable though, I have had them 3 years, my SIL wants them, so have said that if she can get a van she can have them, she has older kids. I am undecided which one to have though, argos are cheaper and they deliver faster than most shops.

MascaraOHara · 16/08/2005 11:40

Those material ones look lovely in the shops! but leather is so practical so I'm trying to sit tight until dd is a couple of years older then get anyone I like!

sparklymieow · 16/08/2005 11:44

thats why I brought them coz they looked lovely in the shop!! HA! I knew I should have got leather! Which is why we are getting a leather one this time!

Sparkly - I like the first one of your options best. I must be a glutton for punishment as I had already ordered 2 off-white leather units just before I found out I was PG. Just can't bring myself to cancel so hope baby sick wipes off well..!

sparklymieow · 16/08/2005 11:55

the first one is very similar to the one at DFS and I like that one too. Just worried that argos sofas might not take my kids ways!!

OP posts:
fairydust · 16/08/2005 14:27

we have a cream leather one from argos and dd is alaways bouncing all over it -and it looks as good as new still.

sparklymieow · 16/08/2005 14:32

how old is it FD??

OP posts:
fairydust · 16/08/2005 14:34

well it's only 6 months old - but imagine it'll stay looking ok - as dd really bashs it about and dh has even slept onit a couple of times

sparklymieow · 16/08/2005 14:36

I think I will buy an argos one and replace when the kids are older, I think the price is reasonable and the styles are similar to what I was looking at from DFS

TwinSetAndPearls · 16/08/2005 14:52

lol at scrotum sofas, a friend came round yesterday and showed me a picture of a sofa she had ordered, but then I mentioned elephant scrotum and she has now cancelled the order!!

TwinSetAndPearls · 16/08/2005 14:54

I think the rule does go that the more you spend on a sofa the better the quality and the longer they will last.

we got ours from DFS, it was the last one of a suite that they were no longer selling, it had been in the showroom so was slightly worn. But as the leather was of a good quality it didn't matter. I think we paid £1500 for a three seater, two seater, a chair and a thing to put you feet on.

TwinSetAndPearls · 16/08/2005 14:55

We have a factory outlet shop here that has a lot of Courts bankrupt stock as well as some M&S suites that are old lines, might be worth you looking for something similar.
