Baby Carriers

I am going to purchase a baby carrier primarily for my husband to use.

Slings don't appeal mainly as he's not assured that they'll not come undone.

I have a few questions:

  • Has anyone used one and how did they find it?
  • Is there one better for men than women?
  • What were the draw backs/problems?
  • Anyone know of any discounts to buy one?
  • What happens when it rains?

Thanks for your help.

how old is child?

a soft structured carrier designed for back and front use will always be better than a front-only Bjorn type, but you may need an insert to use with a newborn

oh and

  • we are using a borrowed Yamo with ds (4m) and it is fab
  • not afaik, just avooid girly patterns
  • none
  • buy second hand
  • either zip baby into your coat and put their hood/ hat on, or carry an umbrellaa

these are fab and much better for babies spine than baby bjorn type ones that dangle baby from their crotch. my husband uses our regularly - used from birth on front and still used daily on his back for dog walks, now dd is 2 - much more comfortable than either the baby bjorn when little or the big backpack ones now she is bigger... both of which gave us both back ache... best money we have ever spent!!
