Bunk beds!

my two eldest are nearly 4 and 2, the 2 year old is still in his ct which is fine for now but we're looking at getting some bunks, spending tops of £500 (incl. mattresses).

Would like wooden ones and if poss with an extra trundle underneath. Also as DD is so young, quite easy steps for her to get up to the top bunk (tho she'll sleep on the bottom until DS comes out of his cot). Can go up to full size single bed size lengthways, but no bigger (seen some where the steps are at the end of the bunk) as the room door wouldn't open!!

Thanks for any thoughts.

I ordered a custom-made trundle from here - it was recommended by mnetters and the man, Ian, is very friendly and helpful.

Thanks, I'll have a look

I had the same sort of problem, we wanted the shortest full lemgth ones we could get as I wanted a piece of furniture to fit in the end IYSWIM, my DDs were also 4 and 2 so didn't want huge bunks.

We ended up with ones from Argos, they are solid wood and very good not too costly, think they were called Amy and came with or without a trundle and mattresses. We got the mattresses and bought some mattress toppers to make them more comfy.

I have been looking for some this weekend, mine are 1 and 3, and I want some that can be used as singles, then as a bunk once they are bigger.

I am going for a Joseph bunk bed in maple, lots of stockists on line, and there is an option of trundle underneath or matching drawers. Like this

Thanks, I like the look of the Joseph ones with the trundle - not bad prices either - think that could be the one, thanks!

i like the look of the joseph one too! is the ladder a detatchable one(just clips on)???

i have 3ds age 6,(on top bunk) 2.5 and 1.5 in the same room at the moment the youngest climbs up but cant get down. if i could remove the ladder it would stop him getting up there in the first place!

Sorry for hijacking!!!!

Good point Martini - can see DS climbing up when he's not meant to, but wouldn't be happy with him being steady enough to climb down - think it might be fixed, but will have a look.

www.sleeplandbeds.co.uk seem to do good deals too!

YY I have just found them, as when I googled some of the other/cheapest stockists I was finding stories of dodgy customer service and complaints on review sites and MSE forums. Have emailed them to ask about pricematching, as bedmark.co.uk have them at £249 frame only.

Will see Have noticed though, that lots of the non delivery/delays people have been having ishoos with, all seem to be Joseph products so I did wonder whether the problems are with the retailers, or the supplier?

Will try sleepland though as they are fairly local to me, certainly within calling in to complain to someone distance if needed

We have the Marks and Spencer bunks for our twins. They are lovely and chunky and have good quality matresses. They even assemble them for you in the room. They can become 2 singles later if you want. We are very pleased with them and you might get a discount if there is a promotion on.
