I loathe [paddling pools.

We've had small inflatable ones which nevr blew up properly

A huge Thomas the Tank engine one which took 1 1/2 hours to inflate only to be played in for 10 minutes.

they get filled with grass cuttings, bits from trees

A couple of washing up bowls to dunk feet in and mine are happy

I know you weren't asking to hear me rant but I wanted to share

I bloody hate them too but dc love them. I always end up buying a cheap crappy one which barely lasts a summer. Is it worth investing in a sturdier bigger one? Also they mean you have to be watching dc rather than skulking indoors mumsnetting (like now).

lol you 2 are no help!
i hate them too, I think if i get an inflatable one i'll get a pump...
the problem here is that i can't be arsed to clean it all and pack it away so they always get left out to get filthy

hmmmm

My two (4&2) have spent the past 3 days playing in and with theirs. It is a tiny one (100cm wide) that only cost me £3 from b&q. We inflated it with a foot pump ( took about 5 mins).
