So, I think my ear thermometer has finally given up the ghost. This morning DS2 was red hot and it wouldn't read any higher than 34 degrees. It was a "summer" one apparantly they were one of the most accurate ear thermometers when I bought it about 4 years ago, what thermometer do you have or would you reccomend... or not reccomend?

Don't be sad, I'm here. I've had mine for years, possibly a Braun in the ear. Pretty good. X

I just bought a cheap ish digital one from Boots - can use under the arm or in the mouth depending on age of child. It works fine You don't really need a super accurate one unless you are using it for natural family planning, cycle tracking etc.

Forehead strip ones cheap, so good for school age children+ but rubbish for babies/toddlers because they get annoyed at you holding this thing on their head and keep moving which means you can't read it.

Thanks Ladies Sadly ds1 is febrile convulsion prone and has temp spikes, hence the need for accuracy

Thanks for your replies

Oh, I see - sorry I think my friend has got the Braun one.

I've got the Braun ear one. I was determined to get a superfast ear one after watching my stepmum try and pin my chickenpoxy 3 year old sister down 8 years ago with a superslow digital one. Tested ear one on the cat before DS arrived and concluded that it worked on a wriggily cat, so therefore must work on wriggily children

PS, I came to this thread via link from threadkillers thread... lets see if I manage to kill this one!

No LOK you can't and pmsl at trying it on the cat!
