Re-enamelling an old bath!!

We want to put the house on the market soon, but the bath is atrocious! The enamel has come off leaving it rough and stained! Only the other week I got red hair dye all over it and it's all pink!

Anyway, we don't want to have to replace the suite, but really need to make this look better for buyers!!!

Can I buy something to paint/spray over it??

You can but it's crap. At least, the stuff I used was. But you can get A Man in to do it for you.

You can buy a kit to re-enamel it. I did it on our old bath. It worked and the result was brilliant. I did notice after a few months or so, it started to have tiny little bubbles but you could only see them when in the bath. (So a buyer wouldn't notice them on a viewing!)

It smells really strong when you apply it and the bath has to be cleaned really well and sanded before applying the enamel. Its very hard work but well worth it. I think B&Q sell the kit, DH got our one from Robert Dyas.

Janbo25 - It's not the bath... its ripping the old one out to put a new one in thats the problem.... and expense.

I like the idea of getting a man in to do it though!!!

You've no idea what a struggle it was for me not to post a bat link there BTW.

I think getting a man it to sort out your rough stained bottom will cost more than £40 though

Wouldn't be worth it for that smooooooooooth shiny new look though? I do so like the idea of a workman in my bath buffing my bottom.

Good point Soupy! Get the man in..... get the job done..... sell it the following week. Sorted. We will use disposable crockery as well.... so as not to mess the kitchen up.

And keep DS locked in that cupboard

He's not so lonely in there now since his sister came along.

Time to get the coffee grinder and breadmaker out I think!
