I am 6'6" and looking for a baby carrier that will be both comfortable for myself and my son. Will be used for nice country walks with the occasional hill thrown in. I have done some research and there is a lot of choice out there, I know the vaude jjolly comfort 2 is ok for us tallies as is the bush baby premier. Thing is a I would like a bit more choice, such as the deuter kid comfort etc but they do not specify if they would be ok for the taller person. Hopefully someone out there has experience with this and can help me through the mindfield. Since they are not cheap I do not want to make a mistake.
Yours Hopefully,
Andy

Have you looked at the MacPac range? There is a place in London where you can try loads of baby backpacks with bags of sand on them to see what might fit you best.

TBH, I'd use a MT if I were you. My DH is 6'3 and long in the back, and he found that even the Bushbaby Elite was a bit uncomfortable, and he liked using a MeiTai. These also last longer as you will continue to use them even when your child is walking a lot as they roll up nice and small to carry.

We still carry our large nearly 4 year old when his legs run out of energy - which is also way past the weight range of the framed carriers

I think Cotswold outdoor world is place I was thinking of,

Have you looked at a soft structured carrier? I have got a Patapum (toddler size) and it's fantastic and very supportive. It's very adjustable so I don't think height would be an issue.

We have a MacPac - my DH is 6'3" - expensive new but sturdy & they sometimes come up on Ebay

we have a kelty kids one - not sure if you can buy them in the UK

How old is your son? My DH is the same height as you and we have an ergo sport which DH uses daily with DS (18 months). We use it to carry him mainly on our front, but it is also a back carrier and a hip carrier.

The MT does look very comfortable and I think for local short walks in nice weather they would be ideal, in fact might get one of these as a second carrier but I think for walks in the countryside they do not offer protection for the baby if they weather changed. Just looked at the patapum, similar to the MT, Definately will get one all singing n dancing framed one and one soft structured. Will try the macpac see how it fits. Bubble2bubble which macpac do you have?
Thanks to everyone for your kind advice. Andy

Tomas is 7 months but big for his age, there are a few kelty kids elite for sale at ok prices, are they ok for tall dads?
Cheers,
Andy

Ergo or Patapum or if you're brave enough for tying then a mai tai. Toddler Hawk maybe?

Steer clear of commercial structured carriers, not
the best spinal support for you or your son.
