Dolls for boys?

Hi, it's DS's second birthday at end of august. I'm getting him a mixture of stuff but I'm wondering about whether to get him a doll. All his female friends his age have them and I like the way they look after them. I'd like to encourage his nurturing side. But am I just going against nature here? Anyone else had experience of this?

Well I bought dst (3 1/2) a doll house, the IKEA one as it was reduced to £10 and they love it! They also play with a toy cooker and love pretend cooking.

DH wasn't sure but I think it nonsense to ban toys due to prejudices of "oh but that will make him girly!"

By the way the current residents of the doll house include a snake and a plastic horse so not entirely conventional!

I got ds a little kitchen for his first birthday and he loves it. He also has a little broom to help mommy sweep up (had to go into the "girls" toy section to find one - grrr). I also got a little high chair so he can "feed" his baby bear in it. He doesn't do much feeding, but likes to put the bear in and out of the high chair.
