That's it really. I have a space in the garden and want to get something to keep ds occiped this summer. He is very active but has a short attention span! Most of the toys we have at home get ignored.

Anyone got something that their dcs can't leave alone?

I am thinking sand pit / water pit maybe. But it's shady area.

Please help!

The things that have gone down well with my DC and they still play with at 9 and 6.

trampoline
swing (double one so they can talk to each other as they swing)
TP climbing frame with slide

all played with loads and continue to be played with. All would be fine for 3 yr old imo.

we probably only have room for one of those. I was thinking of the TP frame...which one do you have?

I have two platforms and some monkey bars, a firemans pole thing and a slide on my frame. Oh and some rope swing thing that dangles down from the monkey bars.

cece - lucky you - that sounds great! I will have a look now.

Tesco Direct have currently got 20% off TP outdoor toys. Here

Swing with net den thing and slide. My two loved their's and it got lots of usage.

ALlo, my friend has a double sided rocking swing thing with a normal swing as well. It;'s a famous make that I can't remember but I'm sure you can get them everywhere.

If you are near a park with slides/swings then I'd go for sand.

If not, then the climbing frame every time. Mine are 10 and 9 and still play on it. We have a TP with 2 platforms, slide and net, but we do have lots of space.

Position it so you can add plastic sheeting at he bottom of the slide to make a water-chute in the summer. You can drape blankets to make a den, you can race toy cars down the slide. Or go down the slide on a skate-board (current obsession)

A trampoline isn't easy with a tot - you have to watch.

I would go for either an airflow bouncy castle or a play tower. My friend has a TP one and she attached a slide, skyride swing, pirate boat, trapeze bar, climbing frame, see saw, twizzler
climbing rope, climbing wall, scrambling net, rope ladder, net, rope bridge, climbing bar, fireman's pole, tumble bar, climbing hoops, rigging, rope ladder, platforms, tents, dens etc. It sounds a lot but for each birthday, christmas she's got them something to add on and also asked relative and friends to put money towards it.

DS just has a slide at the moment. My mum talked of getting him a trampoline or a swing but he fell off the back of a swing at the park which puts me off cos I can't be there to supervise constantly and my cousin's children have had a lot of accidents with their trampoline (and also some monkey bars but DS is too young for those at the moment anyway)

This looks fun too if you think he could do it? Also recommend the Swing car, pedal racer, spacehopper, hula hoop and wheelybugs.

My cousins (who are nearly 5 though) also like their Zoingo Boingo, pogo stick, swing ball, stilts and diablo if you're looking for something he can "grow into"

my trio all love their TP set weve done the same as your friend and just asked the family to add bits and bobs over the years

theyve not been able to yse it because of the weather over the lst few mnths with the weather, I hope it picks up soon!

If youre looking for a trampoline, Ive had my eye on one in JLewis, i think its TP again but its got the enclosure net to stop them falling off!

sorry for disappearing - thank you for all the suggestions. We are a bit cramped is the only problem. I am trying to persuade dh into getting some artificial grass to replace manky lawn / bare earth in the garden. I assume the TP climbing frame has to be buried at the bottom to stop it tipping over?

nappyaddict the easy-roller looks cool! Ds is strangely uninterested (for a boy) in wheeled things though so it would prob get ignored.
