Help; present ideas needed for DH!

Hulababy · 18/07/2005 14:53

...it is DH's birthday on friday (22nd) and for some reason I have not yet got his birthday present. Not sure why I am so disorganised this year.

I am now at work until Friday, after today.

So what on earth can I get him for his birthday???

I truely have no ideas what so ever!

Any ideas gratefully recieved?

BTW, no idea what my budget is either - less than £100 I think.

Was originally thinking of a mini iPod before (more than that price I know) but once we move DH won't get much use from it, as he'll be no longer walking to work, but going in the car. Not sure if, or how, you can attatch them to your car to play through car system?

HELP!!!

You can buy mini Ipods for £118, the gadget that links it up to the FM radio in your car (ITrip) is around £20 - £30. Will hunt out some links...

katzguk · 18/07/2005 14:56

what about a cinema pass for the year?

okapi · 18/07/2005 14:58

As I understand it, the iTrip is illegal to use in the UK - -didn't stop dh buying one in the USA though

katzguk · 18/07/2005 14:59

you go to france a bit don't you?

why not buy him some vines, i have a website somewhere will go and see

Hulababy · 18/07/2005 15:05

Katsguk - the cinema pass might be good - but you do realise that means your DH will also be going out lots then too!

Now the iPod gadget for linking to the car? Anyone seen one?

Hulababy · 18/07/2005 15:06

Katzguk - which cinema is it they go to? The one in town - but what make is it?

OP posts:
katzguk · 18/07/2005 15:07

not sure think the one in town is an odeon

was thinking could get DH one for his birthday too!!

NomDePlume · 18/07/2005 15:08

I have one, Hula. You just slot it into the top of your iPod.

Hulababy · 18/07/2005 15:09

Yes, it is Odeon. Found website, but no cinema passes online there Will keep looking.

NDP - How does it attach to car system? And where did you get it from? Is it for the big iPod or the smaller one?

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 18/07/2005 15:09

iTrip

NomDePlume · 18/07/2005 15:11

You can get an iTrip to fit each of types of iPod, the shuffle, the mini iPod & the iPod. They are an FM transmitter (short distance), so they are totally wireless

katzguk · 18/07/2005 15:13

the one at centretainment does passes

Hulababy · 18/07/2005 15:13

Why would an iTrip be illegal?

OP posts:
Hulababy · 18/07/2005 15:15

TThey never go to that one though do they; just the Odeon one as near to some pub, and easier I think. Hmm. Wonder if I phoned them they do any there?

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 18/07/2005 15:15

Because it is an FM transmitter which are technically illegal. Even though it only tranmts within 30 metres or something

Hulababy · 18/07/2005 15:18

OK, thanks.

Katzguk - Odeon do gift vouchers, but not annual passes.

OP posts:
katzguk · 18/07/2005 15:28

The unlimited cinema voucher can be exchanged for one UGC unlimited cinema card valid for 12 months:

£131.88 - unlimited card voucher which will give you access to any cinemas excluding our London West End cinemas (Shaftesbury Avenue, Fulham Road, Chelsea and Haymarket

one at centretainment but they would have to go weekly to get there money's worth

Hulababy · 18/07/2005 16:04

True.

What about gift vouchers? I presume they do a gift voucher for the cost of one cinema ticket? I could get 12 of them - one a month. And then get something else too.

Anyone used a DVD rental thingy? Amazon do one for £7.99 a month and up to 4 DVD a month (allowed 2 at a time). Anyone used it?

I have friends that use the tesco one- they get on fine with it....I would check the cost of returns...IE- free postal envelops you can put straight in the PO box or ones you have to weigh and pay for yourself.

We would do this if we weren't expecting no 2 in 3 weeks! Just not the time to watch TV....too much sleep needed!!

Hulababy · 18/07/2005 20:50

Amazon says free delivery and free returns - pre paid enveloped to just put in post box.

Dh is forever complaining there is nothing to watch on TV. he is a big fan of watching films too, but Box Office is limited at moment, he says. Just another idea.

OP posts:
leahbump · 18/07/2005 20:51

well if dh likes movies you could do that and maybe subscribe to Empire or something?
