What sort of bed do you have?

We are moving in October (hopefully) and I want a new bed. The one we have atm is fine and pine and just a double with slats underneath. I will put this in the spare room for guests.

I want a big bed with enough room for our 2 boys to jump in in the morning and room enough to 'lose' DH in the night!

I would like storage underneath too, I think. And I would like it to be a bit different and modern. I will be getting new bedding too and going for a minimalist look as I have decided the more you have the more you have to clean!!!!

So, what do you recommend?

Can't blame you QofQ, that's one beautiful bed!

never look as smart with a scruffy dh and three ds's in tho- especially from the foot of the bed, whcih is where I normally end up sleeping!!!!

LOL

we have a king size(and it is available in superkingsize) pine bed with a big headboard. When we feel like it we can get us all in, dh and I, ds and dd too. We don't store anything underneath except the cat and we got from Benson's beds. It fills the room as the headboard is so big and you can have wardrobes and chest of drawers instead. We paid £800 including matress, but by jove it is massive and very comfy. Cat me if you want details.

Yeah - I'll sit and dream about it for a few more years LOL - DH tells me I've got to make a few more sales yet.........

oooooh we wanted a 6foot Sleigh Bed but it was just a tad too big for rooom so went for the 5 and a half foot. It is devine - fab matress cos DH needs a good one for his back and yes it is difficult to get out in the morning - just going there now but will most likely end up in one of the kids rooms or the spare room cos DH is snoring a lot lately and twitching and it drives me insane. It is always musical beds as far as I am concerned but have our old bed in the guest room which is equally as comfy as are the kids beds.

spidermama · 18/07/2005 00:02

OMG I know the feeling. We have had the same ordinary double for about 9 years. All the kids have been conceived in it, and have spent loads of time clambering into it. I also do the 3-in a bed thing.

I've not been getting any slimmer over the ten years.

There are some nice beds which John Lewis will deliver to your door, which have storage underneath.

leonardodavinci · 18/07/2005 00:06

yes we waited 11 years and had a crappy small bed so didn't care. You can pay over that for a holiday and have nothing to show for it, what is wrong with that, we all have our extravagancies.

MarsLady · 18/07/2005 00:07

one that is far too small.

turquoise · 18/07/2005 00:08

THis is my bed I love it passionately. It is one of my all time favourite things.

MarsLady · 18/07/2005 00:09

I dont' think that £800 is too bad for a decent bed though, esp as you said that that includes the mattress. Sounds like a bargain. If I remember I might just CAT you for details.

The mattress that I like costs over £1,000 and that's without the bed!

QueenOfQuotes · 18/07/2005 17:05

I don't think £800 is bad for a bed (the one I want starts at nearly £1100 - without the mattress) - but I'm DO think it's expensive for a pine bed,

ours is here then click on Maly on RHS , and we have a Tempur mattress, which is heaven. There's no storage in it though, so I would recommend the one we have in our spare room, which is the ottoman base one shown here .
