my ancient dyson has finally died.It has been a trusty reliable vacuum for years but I've heard bad things about the new era of dysons so I'm reluctant to get another one.
I've heard that sebo is a good make.I need it for both wooden floors and carpets... any recommendations?

Just bought a Henry. The cleaner prefers it and so do I. The kids like him too.

Any Homebase store, trace - Fri 6-Sat 7 Jan - red Henry, normally £90, £72. I think that's quite a good price!

Janh · 28/12/2005 17:31

price runner have all the different Henries etc sorted by price. (They have different names and colours like Thomas the Tank!)

thanks ladies is the normal henry just as good?/ have got a pup so will i need the extra?

i have hard floors down stairs and carpet up

thanks Janh will get one from there did you say this week??

My ordinary Henry doesn't like the rug in DS1's room but is quite happy with the rug in the livingroom. Rug in DS1's room is a cheapo from IKEA and I don't think it's been near a natural fibre and Henry really struggles but the livingroom rug is better quality and it is fine.

TBH if I had any more carpets than this I would get the one with the beater bar just to be sure.

Sorry for delay in reply- have been away at the PILs. I got the Henry Xtra from www.cleanstore.co.uk for £99 plus £5 next day delivery. Still really pleased with it a week later!

JanH - read this and bought a Miele on 27th. Can't believe how good it is although more effort is required than with an upright. Still, it will give my upper arms a workout and as I discovered I am a stone heavier than I was this time last year that is no bad thing! I might even become obsessive about it.

I LOVE my Henry. He sucks like there's no tomorrow.

milwardmincepies · 01/01/2006 20:52

Have an Electrolux Trilobite - fab. Cleans the kitchen floor when I'm out. Works well on wooden floors & carpet/rugs. Also have a Philips vacuum that has a diamond shaped sweeping part that gets into all the corners.

Mumbojumbo · 01/01/2006 21:13

This is becoming the Henry appreciation thread. Does Henry deserve a thread of his own?

(Proud new owner of a new Henry)

Spidermama · 02/01/2006 00:01

milwardmincepies, I'm interested...how does your Electrolux Trilobite clean the floor while you are out?

I like the sound of the diamond shaped attachment which reaches those hard-to-get-to spots.

trace2 · 02/01/2006 10:45

Spidermama i was thinking that too, just order a henry hound but i think i want one that does when am out

milwardmincepies · 02/01/2006 11:00

sipermamma - it's an automated cleaner. It's has a recharge unit that it stays on & when the timer program comes on it moves around hoovering up the crumbs. It's disc shaped so gets under the table & chairs. It's like a glorified dust pan & brush. I use it after the kids breakfast & dinner. dd3 is frightened of it though as it's quite speedy. It finds it's way back to its recharge unit by itself. I find it amazing!! I'll check the model of the philips cleaner as it's a good one for doing corners & stairs.

milwardmincepies · 02/01/2006 11:02

Spidermama - sorry to get your name wrong!! I'm here with 2yr old & ds at the mo - not sure what I'm typing!!

Tyakit · 02/01/2006 11:03

Isn't the trilobite about £1000 though!! Think I would need it to do a bit more than that for the ££££s. I'm sticking with my Henry Xtra!

milwardmincepies · 02/01/2006 14:00

It's great fun though!! & does a good job.

jasper · 03/01/2006 01:49

Henry

Spidermama · 03/01/2006 22:12

Wow! milwardmincepies, you live in the future. I had no idea such a thing existed.

Janh · 03/01/2006 22:15

Oooh, hi, yoyo - welcome to the Miele fanatics club

DD2 cleaned the bit of carpet under the tree for me over Christmas, I had to turn the suction down or she would have got stuck - excellent exercise!!
