Blimmin' bread machine has died, grr. Please give me your recommendations for a good, long-lasting replacement!

We bake about 3 loaves a week - I'm assuming that's pretty average use, but our bread machine couldn't take it. Does anyone have one that they think is the bee's knees?

We use the Panasonic one. Have had it for 5.5 years for the last 4.5 years we have been runnign a B&B and does for probably 9 months of the year 2 loaves a day. we have replaced the metal bucket but the actual machine is still going strong.

I love our Panasonic with raisin dispenser. It's four years old and has done at least 3 loaves a week, sometimes more for all of that time.

Don't know what the new ones are like, but I love mine.

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 15/01/2010 23:11

ditto Panasoddit.

PigeonPie · 15/01/2010 23:13

Slightly off topic, Five I'm glad you've replaced your pan and yours is still going. Our raisin dispenser needs replacing and I was wondering if it was worth doing, but if yours is still going I think I will!

Lilymaid · 15/01/2010 23:26

Well, the answer is to buy a Panasonic. They almost always come out the best in tests/reviews. I've had mine for 10 years and it is still going well apart from a few scratches to the non stick surface of the pan.

ReneRusso · 15/01/2010 23:31

I've had my Panasonic for years (5+?) and never had a problem, although I've used it in phases rather than regularly

SpeedyGonzalez · 15/01/2010 23:46

Fabulous. Panasonic it is.

Cheers, all!

Dont even think about any other makes but the Panasonic. (And its not worth paying the extra for the raisin dispenser).

Carameli · 16/01/2010 10:13

just to add I have also had the Panasonic one with the dispenser and its fab, going for 7 years now. Had to replace a blade and bucket but never any bit problem with it.

HarrogateMum · 16/01/2010 10:16

I got the Panasonic SD255 for Christmas and also baking about 3 loaves a week...love it, but obviously unaware of its longevity at this stage!

RonNumber · 16/01/2010 10:16

go to shop
buy bread

SpeedyGonzalez · 18/01/2010 21:51

RonNumber - you missed out a word! Your post should've said:

agreed Speedy! Its totally different!

NorbertDentressangle · 19/01/2010 14:04

Glad to see you're all recommending the Panasonic as our Morphy Richards one died just at the beginning of the snow (it was incredibly bad timing as we haven't got easy access to shops when the weathers bad here!).

Anyway I ordered the Panasonic one with the nut/raisin dispenser which has just arrived so I've not even had chance to use it yet.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 19/01/2010 14:12

boak @ raisin dispenser.

i have a broken bread maker i use to make pizza dough in. tis miraculous but i keep meaning to buy a fully functioning one.

blithedance · 21/01/2010 21:05

I upgraded from a Kenwood BM to a Panasonic just before Christmas. It was like going from a Skoda to a Mercedes - I was staggered at how quiet the Pan is, the bread pan is really solid not so thin it dents every time, the mixing blade actually slips out of the bread, and the recipe book has a decent number of recipes which work.
