Longer length wellies for children...any ideas?

Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy wellies that are longer in the leg than your average children's welly? DS is a size 9 kids.

I have seen some Hunter wellies in his size but wondered about an inexpensive option?

Or those of you who like Hunters, how would you rate them for children?

Thanks.

a local farmer supply shop, or fishing shop etc...they usually have big long cheap green wellies

We got our 6 year old a pair of Hunters and they seem to be a big hit. I previously bought him a pair which were shorter but all fluffy inside (thought he'd like these). But he hated that they were short as it made them uncomfortable.

The garden centres near us seem to stock the taller ones. Marks and Spencers (on-line) LOOK as though they are quite high but you'd need to double check. I bought DD1(7) a boys pair of wellies from Zara which are higher than average (but I cut the woolly sock cuff bit off the top as it made it difficult for her to get her foot in as she got all caught up).

Depending on where you live and how often you'd use them, I'd probably go for Hunters - they seem to be the highest kind of welly that you can get.

They are used nearly every day for dog walking (obviously we go to). My husband has a pair of the cheaper Lowther version and rates them and I have a cheap fashion type boot with a proper sole/heel and longer leg. However as with everything I am more willing to spend money on kit for DS than I am on kit for DH or myself .

Thanks for the replies they are really helpful. DS is 3 and 8 months and has been a measured a size 9 recently also has been a size 9 for a long time now so I should get decent wear out of whatever I choose.

Sorry the last bit sounded like a contradiction but it wasn't...

He was measured size 9 about 9 months ago and was measured in the last few weeks and is still a 9 I meant to say.

I used to buy tall wellies from Woolworths which was perfect because they were so cheap that they were also really quite light and so the DD's were happy to wear them. Lots of wellies have very heavy soles (check the Hunter ones for that as your DS is so young, as younger children in particular won't want to wear wellies that are too heavy for them to be able to move properly).

If he was size 9, 9 months ago and size 9 again in the last few weeks, I'd probably be expecting a growth spurt any time soon! Buy bigger but stick thick socks on.
