Is it worth buying a Buggyboard for my Maclaren?

Or will I turn into a hunchback from leaning over my 3 year old to reach the handles?

I hated the buggy board. Where are you I still have it lurking in the garage we are South East.

SpeedyGonzalez · 09/01/2010 15:46

Oh dear, what did you hate about it? We're in the SE too, in Brighton.

Well I am not far from Brighton - near Horsham but really in the middle of nowhere lol (I work in Storrington) you could pick it up form me if you want it.

Mine is the original version and I know it has been updated (the new version will definitely be an improvement I would imagine)but to be honest I either have to walk with my bum sticking out or upright and kick the board with each step. So I always seem to give up.

Also as we live in country the roads are all bumpy so ds got his bones rattled everytime I tried to use it!!

Oh dear, that sounds really irritating! I don't understand why Maclaren make the handle extension bars so short, it really makes very little difference at that length but would be far more worthwhile if they made them extend by three inches or so. They're pretty robust so I can't imagine it would compromise manoeuvrability at that length. Out of interest, how tall are you - I'm 5'7".

I think if there's a new and improved version I'd rather go for that but thanks so much for offering it anyway!

I am 5'6 1/2". Perhaps they have them set up on a Maclaren in Mothercare or something for you to try out. Everyone is different. Some people must like them as they still sell them.

runnervt · 09/01/2010 21:57

I've got one on my maclaren techno and don't have any problems with it. I do have to walk a bit differently but it's fine. I do walk quite far with it too. I guess trying one would be the best option if you can.

runnervt · 09/01/2010 22:00

Oh, I'm 5'6. Dh 5'10 doesn't mind pushing it either although it's a bit annoying going downhill.

I found the buggyboard excellent for my older 2 when they were aged about 2.5 to 3.5 ish.

Not much used beyond that as they were too heavy and anyway could walk everywhere. How old is yr 3yo?

DH used to find it hit him on the ankles but he is 6ft tall. I'm 5ft 6 btw.

Washersaurus · 09/01/2010 22:08

I find it really hard to push the Maclaren with the buggy board on (new version). I do hit my shins/ankles routinely whilst turning etc. We much prefer using the Mini Micro scooters these days.

shopalot · 09/01/2010 22:12

It must be how we walk washersaurus

bintofbohemia · 09/01/2010 22:15

Hated it - need arms a foot longer I think.

Washersaurus · 09/01/2010 22:20

Well to be fair, I do have a P&T that I use every day so the Maclaren and buggy board were only ever going to be kept in DH's car . (I find the Maclaren on its own too hard to push after the ease of the P&T)

SparkyToo · 11/01/2010 10:12

I loved it - at the time. But it really did my back in!!

SpeedyGonzalez · 11/01/2010 16:47

runner - we have a techno as well.

good tip to try one in Mothercare, I will def do that.

Thanks all!
