Lindam or Baby Dan playpen?

bunnymother · 07/01/2010 08:36

DD of 6 months is at that rolling around everywhere stage. Which is lovely, but we have a fireplace and want to buy a couple of playpens and create her own large, safe space. I am looking at the hexagonal playpens by Lindam and Baby Dan, but can't see what the difference is between them.

Can anyone recommend either one over the other??

Thank you!!

Bump as she can now push herself backwards. All around the room. Great.

I had a Baby Dan for both of mine which was great. Can't comment as to whether one is better than the other. Children STILL want to play in it, but am desperate to get rid of it now! Am about to ebay it..... might you be interested bunnymother? I am in London....

bunnymother · 07/01/2010 14:51

Thanks, Orangina! I am leaning towards Baby Dan as it seems more popular, so can only assume there's a reason for that.

If it is white and depending on where in London you live, I would be interested. I am near Notting Hill Gate tube. Where are you?

Do you think it would work if I bought 2 and joined them together to make a big area?

Actually, just spoke to DH (who I will be "outsourcing" collecting and carrying it to) and he asked I just get it from kiddiecare.com so he doesn't have to go traipsing about in the snow for it. Esp as we are buying 2. So sorry to chop and change my mind, Orangina and thanks again for the advice!

Orangina, one more thing - Baby Dan seems to have excellent resale on ebay if that's a viable way for you to sell it? Current bid on one located in Notting Hill (where buyer has to collect it themselves) is £51. Given they are £75 from kiddiecare.com that's pretty good! Hope that helps...

Glad I caught this thread! Hi Bunnymother and happy new year

Orangina I'm in London and might be interested in your playpen!! Whereabouts are you, and what colour is it?

orangina · 07/01/2010 15:14

Hi bunnymother and kazookazoo....
I am near Kensington Olympia, so v close to you bunnymother. I have one in black with a padded mat that is blue-ish with teddy bears on it. Will attempt to post picture in my profile....

(I might be some time!)

orangina · 07/01/2010 15:20

Ok, have posted pics. bunnymother, i would imagine that 2 playpens would take up a LOT of space. I found one to be fine, plus it can be quite cosy for them. My two were both in it together pretending to be dormice yesterday when I got home from work... they are (nearly) 3 and 5.....!

I will ebay it if neither of you want it... it's on my To Do list...

(ahem)

stickylittlefingers · 07/01/2010 15:22

I like Babydan's customer services. When we moved, the little rods that when in each corner of the hexagon went AWOL. I called Babydan to see where I could get some more... they just sent me some! Very helpful people.

Possibly Lindam have wonderful customer care too, but I was impressed by Babydan.

bunnymother · 07/01/2010 15:46

Hi again! Well, this has turned out to be a v helpful thread for me, and hopefully for you too kazookazoo. Thanks Orangina and Sticky, I will order 2 of the white Baby Dans from kiddiecare.com - apparently together they create a rectangular space of 8' by 4'. Which is v big but that's the space her playmat and swinging chair take up anyway. God help us - we have completely surrendered to our DD!

In case this helps, kazookazoo there are some excellent foam playmat squares we have that are fantastic (here is link www.amazon.co.uk/Alphabet-numbers-coloured-play-mats/dp/B001FCBFUQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=126 2879075&sr=8-2) for lining the floor where DD plays. Which clearly is pretty much all the spare space we have had in our living room!

I had a babydan and it was great - and saw all 3 of them through a tricky phase in a smaller house where there was too much to grab and be harmed by out in the big world of the sitting room!
Can't compare as no idea what Lindam one like but can certainly recommend Babydan. Plus the mat that went in the base went in the washing machine.

bunnymother · 07/01/2010 15:53

Thanks, Display for your comments, too. We are also in a small place and would be v hard to baby proof, so prob best just to give DD her own big space where she can go crazy play.

I have the wooden babydan one and same as sticky we lost some of the bits when moving and they were great about sending out spares

bunnymother · 07/01/2010 16:15

Thanks Indith - have ordered the Baby Dan now, on the back of these positive reviews. Thanks again ladies!

Great mind think alike, Bunnymother I have already ordered quite a large quantity of foam playmat squares from www.softfloorkids.co.uk/

I love them because you can order plain ones and in the colours you like so I made up a set of yellow orange and red with borders, that we will be able to do different patterns with!

All this info on playpens has been very helpful as well

kazookazoo · 07/01/2010 16:31

argh what is with all those smileys ? obv the weather is getting to me ?

drloves8 · 07/01/2010 16:40

i have had both those playpens and they are almost identical. the difference is how they fit together . the babydan is slighty easier to set up because its just one rod that holds it in place , the lindam has a marker on the top of the strut that has a hex or a square shape, you align the sides up to them depending on if you want the hex shape playpen or a smaller square.
both great playpens, both can withstand a lot of abuse .... babydan was used for dd3 and ds2 , lindam was used for my twins , who busted a cosato and a hauk playpens within weeks .

orangina · 07/01/2010 16:57

kazookazoo, if you are interesed in my babydan, let me know, or it's on eBay tonight....

(finally, I'll be able to cross something off my to do list!)

thanks (weather getting to me too....)

kazookazoo · 07/01/2010 18:45

hi again,
orangina thanks so much, but I think we need a white version, our flat is all white and light wood floors. Thanks anyway, hope it flies on ebay!

mummywoowoo · 07/01/2010 19:39

How long does it take to put a lindam or babydan playpen up and down pls. Does anyone know?

drloves8 · 07/01/2010 23:09

5 mins max. quicker once you`ve done it a few times.

mummywoowoo · 07/01/2010 23:23

Hmm... 5 mins... So I could put it down at the end of each day for 'adult time' without too much aggravation then?? Has anyone done this?

orangina · 08/01/2010 13:29

Easy to put up and down, and goes almost flat so could slide under a bed or behind a sofa....

Kazookazoo, agree that white are nicer.... will ebay it today then!

mummywoowoo · 08/01/2010 18:19

Brilliant thanks

Jansgossip · 15/01/2010 23:08
