Are Hunter wellies worth the money?

Have also posted this in Pets. I need good wellies for walking the dog and I'm just wondering whether Hunter wellies are really worth their ££ price tag? I quite liked the look of Muckboots but apparently they have a rubbish grip for muddy fields.

Any other recommendations?

Bump coz I need a new pair of wellies too

Twinkleandpearls · 24/12/2009 12:50

My hunter wellies arrived and I am really disapointed. Dd's are fab but mine were a really odd fit, or maybe i have odd legs.

I ordered the huntress ones, which are going back. I am not sure what I am going to order in replacement.

I think the Huntress ones are wider fitting around the calf, so maybe that was the problem Twinkleandpearls?

Have thought about buying them for the children but the cost is putting me off.

Do they keep your feet warm?

I have huge calves, but I think because I am short the proportions were all wrong. Really loose around ankle and lower leg and then too tight on the top.

Kids are not that expensive and dd loves hers, she has gold ones

IMO they are worth it, I love mine! Good grip, comfy and just great. The sock things you can get for the inside keep your feet lovely and warm, but the seams are a bit annoying. Other than that I can't think of anything negative.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/12/2009 12:26

IMHO Aigle are better.

MrsJohnDeere · 28/12/2009 14:29

Well worth it imo. I've had cheaper ones and they develop holes in no time.

There are better brands but they cost a lot, lot more.

classic type hunters are not bramble proof

nor v comfortable for walking miles and miles and miles in

nor as warm as the leather ones

only wear mine when need something 100% waterproof

Toggi are a good compromise between the (not great) Hunter and Aigle etc.
Hunter tend to split or perish very quickly.
Toggi good for the wide of calf as well.
