Why not get just a normal bookcase? Like from Ikea or somewhere?

MilaMae · 02/12/2009 18:10

Haven't seen any in Ikea(my 1st port of call) Billy are too big and high.

Hmm, yes. I suggested this because I bought a small child's bookcase back in the day, and now it's too small and it annoys me. So for ds2 and dd bought proper tall bookcases and they used the bottom shelves, and then as they got taller, so the shelves filled up.

You could fix it to the wall to avoid toppling problems?

MilaMae · 02/12/2009 18:20

That's true going on Fri so will look. Wanted smaller too so as not to dwarf their room iykwim. Where did you get yours from?

Oh some old junk shop type thing. I painted them

though we do have loads of Billy bookcases, and they are v. good - but yes might over power. Junk shops v. often have the small low ones you know - usually in that white/green old paint colour.

I do remember that lots of those catalogue companies - like space and Great Little Trading have special children's bookcases and shelves - shaped like castles or airplanes. They look sweet but are £

Yes and my twin boys are now 6 so castle shelves may be a bit young.

Have just remembered an old bookshelf in the garage but it's nice wood. Hmmm am tempted.
