I need advice on a kitchen for my DD, well i have 3 dds ages 3,2 and 1. Santa is bringing a kitchen for dd1. Problem i have.

a) I like the rose petal cottege one, know the girls would all love that! only thing would it last?

b) would it make more sense to spend on a kitchen (159.99) a tougher make that would last?

c) just buy a cheep one?

Pls help santas list is on the way to the north pole tommorw!! I would really appricate your views on this.

I think the rose petal cottage looks a bit crappy and over priced. Plastic ones I think look horrid generally.

We have the red wooden kitchen from gltc, a bit expensive but it looks lovely and dd gets a lot of fun from it.

Is Santa up to Ikea or is it too much for him? (Visions of nobody in the world getting Christmas presents because Santa has collapsed from exhaustion in a corner of the Self Serve Warehouse)

I was lurking in the cafe this afternoon and noticed a lovely child's wooden kitchen - it's this one:

duktig

rather lovely I thought and you could get the real mini cookware and pans to go with it not icky plastic

too many lovelies there but that's the effect of going to Ikea in Coventry I think it will take 24 hours to recover.

Sorry that link is just the top part but I suppose if you rang up IKEA they could let you know where to get the base.

We got this one for DD1 last christmas (then nearly 3) she loved it and it is still much played with, by her and DD2 (18 mths) and is as good as new.

If you decide to get it, don't pay full price, you can always get 20% off ELC one way or another.

There was a really great thread in the Christmas bit I think about this recently. I can't seem to find in my 'threads I'm on' or on a search so will look and see again. It had loads of great ideas and prices and discount codes!!!

Would second the poster who said to avoid plastic ones and buy a wooden one. We bought a Tefal one for ds1 a couple of years ago and although it looked great (and very manly! )at first, it looked tatty really quickly.

I like the look of the pintoy ones e.g. www.amazon.co.uk/Pintoy-Wooden-Red-Kitchen-Combo/dp/B000S0I8C4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kids&qid=1258495 567&sr=1-1. You can also get additional appliances to go with, but that can add up to a fair bit.

I bought this one for my DDs, they love it and it has taken some bashing from their not so delicate cousins.

We have the John Lewis red wooden one

It's lovely, well made, nice to look at, and you can get a matching fridge if you're feeling rich. Would definitely recommend
