choose my food storage boxes for me

I looked in my cupboard of plastic tubs and saw a jumble of tubs without lids, lids without tubs, things that have got warped in the microwave and old margarine containers. I think I'm old enough for a decent set of "tupperware" type stuff. Can you all make some suggestions?

It needs to be freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. I want a range of sizes from tiny for herbs / baby food through toddler meal and single portion to family sized. I'd like them to be rectangular /square for space saving reasons, and stack on top of each other - preferably in combinations so I can put two little ones on top of one larger one in the freezer, for example.
I'd like something pretty sturdy which will last years - the last set from cheapo discount shop cracked and warped within months. I don't want to pay the earth. I want to buy online.

Suggestions / recommendations? I suspect lakeland?

This thread is very old now, so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but we’ve very recently refreshed our best food storage containers page with plenty of space-saving options that have been tried, tested and loved by Mumsnetters. We hope you find it useful.

was going to suggest lakeland or could try betterware as cheap alternative

csa · 18/06/2005 12:58

i like these ones

hunkermunker · 18/06/2005 13:15

CSA, I was going to suggest those!

They're fantastic - I have a cupboard full of them!

GeorginaA · 18/06/2005 13:18

Those lock & lock ones csa has linked to are FANTASTIC! Am gradually replacing all my storage boxes with them and they are ace.

Aero · 18/06/2005 14:43

Agree with Georgina, though I found some in Matalan (suspect not online though) which I prefer. The make is 'sistema Klip It' and they come in all shapes and sizes as you describe. The most expensive large one I bought was £5.

There are some available here , but only a few have pictures available. Can recommend them though. HTH

Oops - managed to find some online after all.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/06/2005 14:48

I have both klip it and lock and lock. I prefer clip it, although they're both fine. I find the lock and lock ones are a bit more fiddly - you spend more time trying to get the lids to go on properly.

(But unlike the stuff I bought a few years back, with both systems you can tell when the lid is on - no more storing something and then realising it wasn't closed after all.)

Aero · 18/06/2005 14:52

That's exactly why I prefer the Klip It ones NQC. Have to say they seem awfully expensive online - nowhere near those prices in Matalan.

Hi
Does anyone know the contact details for Sistema Klip it?

triceratops · 26/09/2005 08:21

I love lock and lock. My cupboards are full of them and they look so tidy and clinical . They go through the freezer/microwave/dishwasher well without warping and you can always get the lid on. They do some great shapes to take advantage of our new kitchen with deep drawers.

I have a definate fetish for storage.

wildecoyote · 26/09/2005 08:26

I have Klip It and want to keep the storage system the same. The problem is I don't know what they have and the local stores here stock different klip it containers

jelly2tot · 10/09/2006 13:29

I am also looking for a contact for sistema, boxes gr8 but the clips breaking want to get more clips, cheers if any one has contact that would be fab
