Toddler Bikes - any recommendations for a 2 year old?

DS is 2.7 and tall. He can't ride a bike yet as he hasnt quite got the 'round and round' motion, but he's getting there! He currently has a trike (the kind with the parent handle) but the pedals just seem to be in the wrong place for him to push properly.

I just know grandma is going to ask what he wants for xmas soon, so I thought we'd suggest getting him a bike. (I'd just get something off ebay - but she likes to get him shiny new things and who am I to argue!!)

Probably a 10" with stabilisers is best. They have quite a few in Argos/Halfords etc but I thought I'd get some mn advice first

He'd probably love a 'character' bike best but to be honest he'd likely to be super excited about any bike.

I just wondered if anyone had any recommedations?

Nothing over £60 - but £40 would be better.

I'd get him a balance bike and once he's mastered that he can go straight onto a proper bike.

He needs a bike without pedals, once he has mastered using one of these he can move on to a proper bike without the need for stabalisers at all.

Pleae don;t waste your money on cheap character bikes, they are not good quality.

Balance bikes teach littlies how to balance and steer a proper two wheeled bike, stabalisers just slow down this lerning process so if you can avoid them completely it is much better.

When you say he is tall, hoe tall is he exactly?

A 10" bike may be too small for him anyway, you might be better going straight for a 14" one if you don;t like the balance bikes.

Obviously you may want to check out the alternative colours

I'm not sure exactly how tall he is - just taller than all of his peers - I need to go wake him up now so I'll measure him!

I really 10" will be too small. It is actually very hard to learn to ride a bike if it is too small for you, so make sure you get the right size!

So he is the height of an average 4 yr old.

Definately go for a 12" or 14" bike.
