I think my 3 yr old ds is ready to play some sit down games which DH and I could join in with.

I remember Buckaroo, Operation, Mousetrap, Kerplunk.......what do your children play with and are they interesting enough for you to play as well?

My dd is just 4, and for the last year or so has enjoyed Hungry Hippos, a 3-d farmyard game based on Beetle, and magnetic fishing games, and over the last six months has really started to enjoy Ludo and Snakes and Ladders.

None of them are very interesting for the adults, but dd loves them.

Some of the Galt games are good - Scaredy Cat, Ladybirds, Shopping List, Tummy Ache. Not really rocket science for adults, but our DDs enjoy them (5 and 3 years old)!

Try Orchard Toys. The games are cheap and well made, also very educational

ds likes pop-up dragon, operation, marble-run, giant snakes and ladders, candyland, shopping list. Anything as long as he wins!

clary · 10/06/2005 23:41

Yeah another vote for orchard toys, we love shopping list, bus stop, colour match express etc.
I would say Operation is a bit fiddly for a 3yo.

Cha · 11/06/2005 09:45

Another for shopping list and tummy ache. Operation they love but they want it to beep, not the other way round. But it is a NIGHTMARE to clear up afterwards - I have chucked most of the money and cards away.

My 4yr old loves snakes and ladders, matching pairs and kerplunk. Ds2 whos almost 3 loves kerplunk but hasnt got the just of the rules!

My DD (3y 2m) enjoys hungry hippos, pop up pirate and a big inflatable snakes and ladders game (ELC) that we have. We also have snap type games, lotto games, picture dominoes, etc.

What I have found to be a really good game is Chad Valley (Woolies) build a beetle, I enjoyed it too

suzywong · 11/06/2005 10:44

Vote for Buckaroo

My 3yr old twins love Cockadoodle Moo (Orchard Toys) which we've been playing since they were 2. Also Quack Quack (Orchard too).

collision · 12/06/2005 13:48

Do I get Orchard Toys from a normal toy shop?

Anyone know anything about the game Tumbling Monkeys? (I think)

My ds loves Cranium Cariboo! He often gets it out and plays it on his own if I'm busy!

Min · 12/06/2005 15:22

Collision, I have got my various Orchard Toy games from shops such as John Lewis and Fenwicks. I think I found Cockadoodle Moo in a National Trust shop but have seen it in some mail order catalogues too. We also have Tumbling Monkeys (which was a handme down from friends. It's very popular too although they do need help setting it up. I'm pretty sure I've seen it in Woolworths & Toys R Us. There is another similar game with bees which I think came from the Early Learning Centre. Hope that helps.

redsky · 12/06/2005 16:28

Tummyache was ds's favourite for years!!!!!!

pabla · 13/06/2005 21:34

My almost 4 yr old currently loves You Who from the ELC - it was actually one of his older sister's Christmas presents. It is a fairly simple game without lots of small pieces to pick up. Involves asking lots of questions to try to guess which card the oppopnent has. I think other stores do similar games at lower cost. I don't mind playing it with him and normally I find these things fairly tedious so i suppose that's some sort of recommendation! He also likes snakes and ladders.
