Boots Vapouriser - Help - how long can you leave it on?

Quick question & help needed...
We bought one of those Boots Vapouriser thingies where you put a 'menthol pad' into it and it emits a soothing/ passage- clearing vapour overnight.

However I can't find the instructions, and I remember something about not leaving it on for longer than X hours at a time. How many please folks?

Yes I remember that part of the instruction too - I think it was about four hours - but (bad mummy time now) I did leave it on overnight once ..the next morning there was a faint smell of burning if you got very near to it - but we all survived!!!

Hi Mo2, we've got the Boots electric vaporiser - I've dug out the instructions and it says "never use the unit without a pad inside (obviously!) or with a pad that has been used for 10 hours or longer".

I have always left it on overnight, probably for a full 12 hours, and there's been no problems. As long as the room is well ventilated (we leave the door wide open), you should be OK!

Are they any good? I was wondering about buying one.

Mo2, agree with jodee, we have left it on all night with no ill effects. if you are worried, i suggest you get one of those plug-in electronic timers and set it say, from midnight to 6am or 10pm-4am, whatever is you think is appropriate.

xhausted, the vapouriser/humidifier combo saved mine and dh's sanity when i went back to work and ds started nursery just at the start of the cold season...

Thanks all - as it happened we switched it off after about 2 hours 'cos ds2 ( 10 months) was so miserable with his cold that he wouldn't settle in his cot at all - just wanted to be cuddled, so we took him into our bed.
He was very hot too - 102 degrees. Fortunately managed to bring it down with Calpol & Calprofen.... funny how someone else was posting about this too this morning - we were having the same debate about alternating them too....
(Yawn this morning... )
