wooden floors

we are thinking of having some wooden floors put in to replace our carpet in our living room- what sort of price should it be - home base were doing a special offer of £20 for a pack that covers 1.3 sq feet - also is it better than carpets?

Our house had laminate flooring in when we bought it and I have to say I was a bit dubious as dd was 5 months old and I was worried that she would hit her head etc.

DD is now 9mo and we've had no problems, it's fab for any ominous 'baby stains' as they wash right off and it doesn't trap dust like carpet. If you are worried about it being a bit hard, you could always add a nice soft rug for baby to sit on.

Whatever you do though make sure you buy the click stuff and not the glue type as it's much easier and cleaner to fit.

Wooden-type floors also much less likely to harbour dust mites and similar nasties than carpet- Friends of the Earth etc say they're much better.

We have wood floors and dd seems fine!

We will have laminate flooring throughout (except bedrooms) when we finally get into our new apartment and I think it's going to be great what with having a 13 month old toddler around. If she spills anything, a quick wipe and dust and it's sorted.

We have wood floors and they're fantastic - wipe clean, take knocks and anything else you can throw at them really. And during potty training - a godsend.

One hassle is that they show every crumb and piece of fluff - but then at least you know when they are clean too.
