Are they worth it? Which one is the best? Am I mad to be buying one?

Thanks x

Are you talking about a jogging stroller with 16 or 20" wheels with a fixed wheel in front? I've seen the occasional mum out jogging with a Mountain Buggy-type stroller (12" wheels) and it looked like hard work.

We have a Bob SUS D'lux from the States that works really well for running. Bobs are hard to come by here in the UK but occasionally pop up on ebay. Babyjogger does a similar 20" stroller that is more readily available in the UK.

I jog with DS who's 18 months about 3 times/week for about 4 miles. It works really well but it's definitely more work than going solo. DH, who is a real runner and not a jogger like me, has only used it once and he complained about feeling it in his biceps. He didn't have any problem as far as his stride. I think you just get used to it.

I think a "real" jogging stroller is probably not going to be your everyday stroller unless you get something like the Bob Revolution with a 12" fixed or swivel front wheel and even then it's going to be unwieldly (sp) by UK standards. They're much longer than the usual 3-wheeler and the fixed front wheel means it's more challenging to get around shops. Having said that, mine is narrower than the Buzz I used to have as my everyday stroller and we have no problems going around the Coop on the way home from a jog to pick up the paper/milk/etc.

I think that if you're serious about getting out for exercise they can't be beat. A friend of mine used her Bob Ironman until her DD was a bit past 4yo.

Hope this helps.

Oh. I forgot to mention all the smiles that go on people's faces as we jog past. For some reason, people seem to really enjoy watching DS as we lumber past. Or they're trying not to laugh at me wheezing and plodding along....

Wow- you know your stuff laraeo. Thanks for the advice. I shall investigate the Bob of which you speak!

You might also check out www.joggingstroller.com/home.jsp

They've got a ton of good information as well as a "stroller wizard" to help you figure out what is best for you. I don't think they do international shipping though....

Absolutely second that about the Bob stroller - undoubtedly the best money we ever spent on baby stuff. We brought ours in from the states ( very helpful mail order company in Seattle, I think - could probably dig out the email if you like ))

As laraeo says, unbeatable if you actually want to run or powerwalk with your baby as it leaves room for your stride unlike normal prams. I found it hard work in shops, due to the length requiring quite a lot of turning space. Ours is bright yellow, which did yet a lot of attention, but probably quite a good idea to be seen at a distance on country roads! Also great off road - forest trails etc - can cope with pretty much anything and nice suspension means your baby is pretty comfy too

The only downside is that it's quite big to fit in a car, even when folded, though the wheels are easy to take off if necessary

There may be other things out there, though we bought this because of a recommendation in a running magazine and have put in miles & miles with no probs at all ( just one puncture when I didn't spot a thorn edge - fixed in a local bike shop)

Good grief, starting to sound like I work for Bob strollers..... Even Granny loves walking with it, it was so easy to push!

Funny enough I'm about to put mine on Ebay though will have to do local pick up only as it's far too big to post. Very sad to see it go, but DD2 is 2 now and no interest in sitting still and needs to get moving
