Sangenic Nappy Wrapper

friendsis due to have a baby soon and we're thinking of getting them a sangenic nappy wrapper - as they live in a flat and i know she'll hate having to keep going down several flights of stairs to the bin outside.

So do they smell or do the wrappers stop that.
Am i wasting my money.

Any info on them apreciated as we didn't bother with one for our dd.

Some people love them, some people find they have a miasma of whiff that never leaves them.

The wrappers are also pretty pricey.

personally found mine invaluable as was in the smae flat situation when DD was born.

Was very happy with ours. Chucked it out after about a year though because it did start to smell.

i have one, i think they are worth it although not everyone's cup of tea. wrappers are pricey but significantly cheaper at kiddicare then elsewhere.

I wouldn't have been without ours, I didn't find it smelly either.

I have found my fab and don't find it smelly - you just need to make sure the nappy is 'twisted' enough. Also, Mothercare and Boots often have them on special offer at half price so it may be worth keeping your eyes peeled.

I've found that it keeps the smell down, we live in a flat too and although I don't have to go downstairs to the bin before we had the nappy wrapper I found that putting the nappy bags in the chute left a certain eau-de-poo scent on the landing.

i hated ours - stank to high heaven! a nappy sack chucked by the front door and removed when going out worked just as well!

Er no, the Sangenic nappy wrapper was something I had to have (love a gadget!) then couldn't wait to get rid of! I found it smelly and fiddly putting in the new wraps which were quite expensive and a hassle to get compared to a packet of nappy bags.

Really came to the conclusion that a dirty nappy needs to be on it's way to the outside world asap.

I think you'll find there are quite a few being sold second hand and hardly used if you want to try one cheaply.

if you're interested and you're local to North London/Hertfordshire Fairydust , I have one that's hardly been used for sale with a spare wrapper set too. £5 for both bits.

we have one, overall i like it. agreed that the refills can be pricey (about £3.59 each). i soak it in soap and bleach once a week and that keeps any really nasty smells away..

Hated it, it's still languishing in the back of our garage! I found I was using nappy sacks as well, which defeated the object!

I found it great on our second one the other smelt abit so got another when dd2 came along if you spray them with fabreeze occasionally and make sure you twist it anoth its ok.

Have one and it's been in use for 8 years! Recommend it - but just as good to have a pedal bin and binbag - we have this in the bathroom.

I hated it. Very smelly, fliddly to refill (but then I am quite clumsy) and lost a couple of those clip things - kept falling inside the bin and very unpleasant to fish out.
Nappy sacks worked much more easily for us - and much much cheaper.

I hated it too!
It made ds1's room smell of stale wee (I never put any number 2 nappies in it!)
I didn't bother with it for ds2 & kept to nappy sacks instead, which I much prefer!

We had one - used it for a few weeks & then didn't bother. Agree they would be good for people who had a long way to go to an outside bin !

We had one for quite a while but there comes a point that however many times you bleach it, the smell doesn't go. Yuk!

We still use ours (DD is 16m) and as long as you empty it daily (don't wait until it's full as apart from the pong of days old nappies, they really can get quite heavy) there's no problem with the smell. Certainly beats what our neibour does - throwing nappy sacks out of the bedroom window to land on the car!! Still use nappy sacks for when we're out and about, though.

I wouldn't have been without mine. As long as you twist the wrap enough time, empty it quite regularly and keep it clean (as you would have to do with a bin anyway) then I didn't have any problem with smell. Have bought several for presents since then as well and have always had positive feedback. The refills are quite pricey but they do last for a decent length of time and are often on special offer. I wouldn't pay any more than £20 for a Sangenic Nappy Wrapper though, if you shpp around you can easily get one for that much. HTH
