I know the double buggy thing has been done to death - I keep re-reading the old threads (and stopping people in the street), and STILL can't make my mind up. Help! We live in a 2nd-floor flat in London so my BIG priority is something very very compact, lightweight and manoeuvrable - easy to get on and off buses, up steps, through doorways etc.

DD isn't walking yet (baby is due early Sept) so buggy board won't be an option for a while - I may manage with stroller + sling for a while but we will definitely need a double buggy so all advice much appreciated.

Nipper is fab narrow enough to get through my front door light as a feather even with 2 big children in. But it doesn't fold up small enough to fit in the boot of my metro and the MS gets round bluewater v easily (not that I go there alot you understand ) because to get through the crowds its much narrower. When I minded another baby. The nipper was easy to push with 2 children and a toddler on the BB. We've also had a single nipper and that was also as good would be really easy to push with a buggy board on the back. Although I did remove the hand brake (which we never used anyway) because DS used to scrap his head on it when he was on the BB.

So Xena, on balance, in my situation with a newborn + 19mo, priority being access to buses, lightweight, easy on steps, in shops etc. - given that I'm only going to buy ONE buggy - what would you do in my place???

You need to define steps to me flights or just a couple? I couldn't recommend a p/c that you could bump down a flight of stairs with a toddler and baby on your own (i.e into your flat) My Nipper is my lighter than the MS but you would need to fold it up efore you got onto a normal bus (put baby in sling etc). I think that overall (and it does have its down sides) i would have to go for a MS because you wouldn't have to fold it up when you got on a bus

But you might want to put the baby in a sling untill you were comfortable about how flat the MS lays

Just checked and the MS is 56cm wide - the Nipper is 100cm! Width definitely an issue for me so MS is still in the running but I am worried about what people have said here about the weight and difficulty of use on stairs. Still, the Nipper doesn't look great for buses and the P&T looks even worse for stairs so on balance .....

My dble nipper only 72cms wide

Thanks Xena - cross-posted there. Really useful to have your comparisons. We have a set of half a dozen or so steep steps at the front of our house - not a huge number but obviously I have to go up and down them a lot, having hauled baby + toddler down 2 flights first. (Could leave a MS in our communal hallway unfolded - we'd have to fold the Nipper, which is another disadvantage.)

The bus is a major issue so I do think it may be the MS in the end.

Haven't had time to read whole thread so sorry if repeating. I love my Phil and Ted's but would never attempt to bump it down two floors (unless no kiddies in it - in which case it's fine!).
