12 ft frame pool here. Now have industrial strength liquid chlorine, algicide and some very cute dip sticks (bit like the midwives use) that change colour and tell you about your chemical levels after the pool went green.

Best fifty quid we've ever spent on the DC.

I'm not going in though; I suspect it may have been peed in.

ChippyMinton · 01/07/2009 19:03

Hecate, mine looks like the one in your link, although my garden sadly doesn't. The DC are that happy though

MelonCauli · 01/07/2009 19:48

What exactly do I need to stop it going green? Just chlorine or something else?

shivermetimbers · 01/07/2009 19:50

Algaecide, or however you spell it.

cocolepew · 01/07/2009 19:57

We have this Do you think I should get a filter?

HecatesTwopenceworth · 01/07/2009 19:59

Shiver. I measured the bottom end where the trampoline is, and a 15ft one would fit.

Lulumama · 01/07/2009 20:19

snort at that coco, top of the range that one !!

hecate, that is the one that DH wants for next summer.

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 01/07/2009 20:25

the biggest one i got this week was £2.50 from asda - its ermmm tiny

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 01/07/2009 20:51

this

ok tell me if i got this (above link) can you fill them so they are not brimming at the top so a toddler could paddle or do they have to be brimming with water. Also how long would one take to fill and with that package i linked to how much are the chlorine things and algecide thingabobs and how often do you use them. Finallly anyone seen same deal but cheaper - perhaps 10 ft?

thanks

melmog · 01/07/2009 20:59

Oh.

I've got a paddling pool and a bucket.

Rubbish.

ChippyMinton · 01/07/2009 21:39

12 footer takes about 8 hours to fill.

Get the chemicals from a pool/spa place. Algaecide kills the algae, chlorine kills bacteria, so you need both. Also the pH has to be correct so you need pH adjuster that's appropriate for either hard or soft water, and a kit or strips to test the water with.

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 02/07/2009 08:13

8 hours think i wills tick to my 150 x 25 cm one !

mummydoc · 02/07/2009 10:20

hectate we had the one you linked 2 , it has been a huge success for 5 years but last year did start ot leak around several of the inlet pipes , we patche dit up with repair kit - not really successsful so used silicone sealant, our frame has rusted and a couple of the pegs which lock it all together went brittle and snapped last yr , so new one was needed. i paid about £400 for it but got 5 yrs of summer fun out of it, kids in it all the time, even set up climbing frame and slide into it to create flume and diving board!! we ar enow unpacking a new easy up one will let you know if " a poor relation" to frame one

GingerIgnoramus · 02/07/2009 11:46

but 8 hours is so worth it
