Dressing-up outfits - where to buy?

Dd's year group (y3) have raised a little over £200 to buy some dressing-up stuff. I have been given the task of buying the stuff and wonder where would be best to go. Obviously because of their ages (7-8) and also because its for school, we're talking slightly different stuff from the usual (no Spiderman or fairies!). I think the teacher would like stuff that could be incorporated into the curriculum a little, maybe historical or other cultures, that sort of thing.

Anyone able to recommend a shop, online, or mail order service that may be suitable. All help gratefully received

Have you tried charliecrow.co.uk? They have a great range of outfits. I have used them recently and they were very prompt. Quality is really good too.

Thank you very much. Will have a browse at them in a bit

Asda have loads of nice dressing up costumes, and they're really cheap too.

Is there a "party bizniz" or "party shop" near you. Very reasonable prices for childrens wear

letterbox.co.uk

are good and quick.

I would also put out a request to sewing mums at the school for some costumes.....they will probably be better made than the bought ones....

There is one. Quite pricey I think and probably not quite the stuff we're after. Dear "sir" would like a girl and boy costume each on a Roman and Celtic theme plus some accessories!

Try www.tts-group.co.uk it's an school resource company, if you look in the history section it has lists of the different periods, with artefacts and costumes. They are quite pricey but very authentic.

There was also a Roman soldier costume at Woolworths that I saw.

i have just had dd a medieval costume made and it was free cos it was made out of scrap material, have you tried ebay i recently brought a medieval dress in their fancy dress section

Woolworths do standard Fireman, nurse, police type outfits. Also worth looking at ebay - they have alot of the Spiderman types but you can always do a search & it should be reasonably priced.
