Robert Dyas Direct-sorry I cant do a link but have just bought a 50 litre brushed steel bin for £48.99 plus £4.00 p&p-reduced from £113.99-Stainless steel one £69.99!
Bargain! Though I'd share-have been coveting for a long while and ds2 keeps opening our existing cheapo plastic one so am chuffed from South London!

try this

dropinthe · 09/05/2005 18:33

Well done! I didnt get this one as thought it would be a nightmare to keep clean-I got the brushed metal one so dirty marks would be less visible! And £20.00 cheaper!

Is it this one ?

Hulababy · 09/05/2005 18:40

We have the really shiny one and it does mark quite a bit. Have to give it a good wash and rub down to keep marks from showing. BUT it does look great!

MarsLady · 09/05/2005 19:13

the DTs love to kiss their reflections in my shiny bin.

Did you know that they have a lifetime guarantee and Brabantia replace the lids etc without a quibble? Fantastic!

Xena · 09/05/2005 19:14

Ok am ordering one can't resist

anchovies · 09/05/2005 19:17

Whatever you do, don't spend £80 on a lovely shiny brabantia bin and then let your husband use a scourer to clean the lid.

MarsLady · 09/05/2005 19:19

anchovies, email brabantia tell them the lid is ruined/broken. They will send you a replacement within 28 days.

dropinthe · 09/05/2005 19:27

Yes thats the one! My friend had hers for over six years and her lid went funny-they are so good they don't even need to see proof of purchase-they just send you a new lid! V professional!

anchovies · 09/05/2005 19:28

What even when some idiot has scrubbed all the finish off it - that's brill?! I couldn't possibly send it back though cos then I wouldn't be able to comment on it every time I put something in the bin!

MarsLady · 09/05/2005 19:30

You don't send it back, you simply email that it is broken. Tell them the size and that's it!

marz · 09/05/2005 19:31

I use the ecloth on the shiny bin...really works without rubbing, just wipe it! (99p from Safeway/Morrison)

dropinthe · 09/05/2005 19:31

They have a brand to protect after all! That's why there is no quibble!

OP posts:
dropinthe · 09/05/2005 19:32

Is that the same ecloth I bought from Lakeland for 2.49???????????????Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!

anchovies · 09/05/2005 19:38

Thanks marslady, have just emailed them. Will obviously tell dh that I have had to order another at great expense...

bran · 09/05/2005 19:41

I've just tried to order that bin and it says they're out of stock and won't let me add it to the shopping basket - did anyone else manage to order it? Perhaps they only had limited stock, or perhaps there is a Delia effect on Mumsnet (remember when Delia used to make something on her cookery programme the supermarkets would sell out of the ingredients the next day).

marz · 09/05/2005 19:42

dropinthe....
To make you feel better I am sure they are not as good quality...and maybe smaller too??!!!
