Weber BBQs ..worth it or not?

Would like to purchase a BBQ with some vouchers (wedding present) and was looking at the Weber models. Are they worth the extra money that you pay?

Also can anyone vouch for gas over charcoal?

I have two Webers, a little 'Smokey joe' portable one and a standard size silver. They are extremely good, thick metal construction. You can buy replacement parts easily, such as grill plates.Kettle barbeques are the best imo, as they behave like an oven when the lid is on. This ensures food cooks well right through without getting burnt. You can control the amount of airflow through by adjusting the vents. I've never used gas, but charcoal briquettes are best for the charcoal Webers as they don't fall though the grid in the base. You can extinguish the fire by closing all the vents to cut off the air, and this means you save the briquettes having to burn out naturally. Those left can be used next time, so saving money.

The larger of mine was a wedding present, too!

Weber have been manufacturing since the 1950's, so that should explain why they are so popular, a real quality product.

Gas every time!! (so shoot me) Same flavour but far greater cooking control....Almost instant cookin g(as opposed to waiting for charcoal to turn white) and the ability to keep stuff warm.
I was a die hard charcoal fan but boy does gas make life easier.

My DH is the BBQ king. He BBQ's from clocks going forward in the spring, to back in the Autumn, probably 4 times a week.

He absolutely RATES his Weber. We also ahve an outlook but you can't cook a while bird and veg on that! (Whole chicken on top shelf is steam and coal cooked and the juices drop down to make the best potatoes!)

We love our Weber too - we have the portable one (had for about 12 years) but are planning to get a bit one too and will get a Weber - I think they are good quality and look good too.

Thank you! I was keen for a charcoal ( keeping in line with the amount of vouchers we had) but DH suggested the gas. Might persuade him to stick with the charcoal for now!

DH is pro-Weber - he buys these pre-packed charcoal bag things from Costco - you light the bag, then distribute the charcoal inside the bbq - doddle & mess free.

I think if you're going to all the faff of burning things out of doors you might as well do it on a caveboy fire.

The weber bbqs we've had have lasted us years and years. The charcoal weber kettle bbq we've had must be over 15 years old now and still going strong. Most of the Weber gas bbqs www.bbqs2u.co.uk/5-weber-gas-bbqs have 25 year warranties so that says a lot.
Like most things in life you get what you pay for, we used to get the crappy cheap bbqs from wilko etc but lucky if they last a year.

I think my hubby is getting a bit addicted to Weber bbqs to be honest, he's even got one of their portable ones now! It comes in handy for the beach i guess and the food is delish!
