Have my eye on second hand tetrad eastwood.

It is half leather half fabric combo stylee and although I rather like it, am afraid I would be buying into something akin to a mock tudor villa in Bishops Stortford.

Please could someone cast their judgey eye over said item and tell me if it's just too Non-u

Well not my style at all but I think if you like it you should go for it. It is your house and you will have to look at it every day

Saying that, it does look really comfy!

NationalFlight · 29/05/2009 10:39

Thanks...I can't decide...quite like the leather bit, and they're very well built apparently which is good.

obviously ditch the cushions.

What would you recommend, Gorionine? I don't like our sofa. Just want something nice and big and easy to keep looking Ok without having to resort to blankets/throws all the time.

Not my style either (must be the Swiss influence Gorionine).

What kind of furniture do you have at the moment. Does it suit the rest of the room?

NationalFlight · 29/05/2009 10:52

Hmm, we have older style furniture...big old painted school dresser, about 8 foot tall...red persian carpet...victorian desk. It's a victorian flat.

I think the colours will look great, that colour in the picture is a bit nasty but IRL it's more a pinky red leather, a bit faded.

I was going to go for a leather settee in a rich brown, but this turned up so I thought hmm maybe...

I would not recommend anything, I was trying to make a point that it really does not matter if the rest of the planet does not like it , YOUR opinion is the only valuable one !

BTW I thought the cussions where the back of the sofa, what is there left if you take them off? does it look like the cussions you are sittin on? My leather sofa is getting on the tired side and I have actually been thinking about making fabric covers for the sitting and back cussions myself so I cannot actually pinpoint what I do not like too much in the one you linked to. It might be too dark ?

MmeLindt, maybe

MmeLindt · 29/05/2009 10:55

It would go well with your other furniture then.

Can you visualise it in the room? Close your eyes and think how it will look and how it will feel to snuggle up on it.

NationalFlight · 29/05/2009 10:55

Just putting a couple of pics on so you can tell me what would look nice!!

MmeLindt · 29/05/2009 10:57

I think that the one you linked to is quite busy looking, lots of pattern and colours. That is why it does not appeal to me, but then our house is very modern. As Gorionine said, you have to decide if it suits you and your family not if other MNetters find it cool.

NationalFlight · 29/05/2009 10:57

Yes, I think so...might just be a bit too big, that's the only thing.

Person selling it says he has fixed the frame underneath as it broke when jumped on by childrne... that's strong then...

Um, not my taste really.

Though to be fair, you'd probably think my house was owned by an 84 yr old spinster with a penchant for chintz, Laura Ashley and Thomas the Tank engine.

NationalFlight · 29/05/2009 11:01

Ah Ok. You have a liking for clean, modern lines, yes?

I wish I was like that. Sadly have never managed it...I move and move and all the junk comes with me!!! Have grown to accept myself as a harbourer, somewhat.

X posts Nicky!!!

Lol at Thomas and chintz.

X posted with you NF, I just had a look at the picture in your profile, and Yes, I can see this sofa in there ( I just have lost all sense of nice and bright since I live in a rented magnolia semi.)

I think it would also have looked very nice actually in the house we used to live in which had a brighter colourscheme all arround. You definitely have to make your choice with your taste and the colour scheme of your livingroom.

NationalFlight · 29/05/2009 11:03

Oh thankyou Gor, you are sweet. We rent too but I like to, um, accessorise wildly iygwim

Good point, Gorionine.
A soaf can never be too big.
SO what if it takes up loads of space - it's the sitting room.

Does look very comfy.

MmeLindt · 29/05/2009 11:07

I agree with Gorionine, the sofa would suit your room.

Yes, we are all modern streamlined furniture. We have DeSede tastes but Ikea wallet so are saving up for some really decent furniture at some point (when DS stops writing on the couch)

Is that your DS on your profile? He is gorgeous, fabulous eyes. Does he have his dummy in upside down? DD used to do that.

NationalFlight · 29/05/2009 12:52

Oh, thankyou...! Yes that's ds2, he rarely uses a dummy, ds1 has the monopoly on those...

DeSede would indeed be lovely but I totally take your point re the couch drawing.

I have a Loewe TV waiting in the wings for, hmm, maybe in about 8 years when ds2 can be relied on not to draw on that!!!

Does anyone want a Loewe TV? I keep tripping over it in the bedroom.
