We got a cheap one from woolies when my middle two were 2.5 & 3.5 and yes they've used it loads. A shed with windows however would be just as good.

runnyhabbit · 28/05/2009 16:58

Yes, I do.

My dad made it for my boys just over a year ago (they are 4 and 2) and they have so much fun in it.

Looks lovely in the garden, and it's a great place to keep all their outdoor toys.

geekgirl · 28/05/2009 16:59

yes we do. And no they don't.
it's one of those fancy-pants ones with an extra floor on one side. Dh even put in a large skylight in the vain hope that the ungrateful little so-and-sos would actually use it then. But no.

Fennel · 28/05/2009 17:00

We had a plastic play house in the garden and the dds rarely used it, so we gave it away. I'm pretty sure they would be the same with a wooden one. They prefer to make dens, or put tents up.

It was one of those toys I'd thought they'd like but was underused - like the dolls' house, and the lovely big rocking horse.

mummydoc · 28/05/2009 17:06

yes we also have fancy wooden one with mezzanine level, i painted it and made curtains the works - never sodding used, am seriously thinking of renting it out to some local polish fruit pickers to live in

thisisyesterday · 28/05/2009 17:07

ooh 2 to 3 so far. i guess they're one of those ones that appeals mainly to the parents then? lol

still, it 'd be nice to have somewher eto store the garden toys lol

we did have one. the DDs palyed in it a couple of times but everytime they saw an insect they came out shreiking. DD2 is especially loofahphobic.

so I gave it to a mate and got a greenhouse instead. we get much more use out of it.

poorbuthappy · 28/05/2009 17:11

Geekgirl - do you want to sell it?

Disenchanted3 · 28/05/2009 17:16

Yes they LOVE it,

its this with a slide too

it has a big pirate flag on top

Fennel · 28/05/2009 17:29

Oh, next door's boy has that one, Disenchanted, with a zip wire too. He never uses it.

Disenchanted3 · 28/05/2009 17:33

Wow a zip wire

flatcapandpearls · 28/05/2009 17:39

we did in our previous house one like this from B&Q we inherited it with the house.

Dd used to play in it all the time, we laid some lino on the floor and I made curtains and window boxes for it. Dd loved it and it was handy for storing toys in. We only left it behind when we loved as it was too big to move . There is a young family moving in though and I love the idea of them playing in it.

When we were walking the other week we saw a house with a teepee in the back garden with children running in and outof and I was very envious. Dd wasn;t but I was.

flatcapandpearls · 28/05/2009 17:40

Gosh I would play in a house with a zip wire.

geekgirl · 28/05/2009 17:52

lol mummydoc, I made curtains too (pretty gingham ones!) and the little sh*ts broke them within 2 days
can't sell it as it's the centrepiece of a 'feature' with slide etc.

ramonaquimby · 28/05/2009 18:20

we have one with stairs to a 'loft' and the girls are in in everyday - they are 7 4 and 2. More so the 4 and 2 year old (prob coz they're not at school yet!)

HaventSleptForAYear · 28/05/2009 18:25

We have just constructed a jungle gym fort in our garden.

It's more of a climbing frame than a playhouse but I reckon if they wanted a bit of privacy in it I could hang some material over the sides.

So far the DS love it (4.5 & 2.5).

We are hopefully attaching the monkey module with swings this weekend.

It is a HUGE DIY job though - about 3 days work.

I think some of the places selling them offer an installation service.

Geocentric · 28/05/2009 18:31

We have one like HaventSFAY. They only really use it when friends/cousins come round, but its in the back garden which is tucked away down some stairs, so hard to get to.

We also have a plastic playhouse in the front garden right by the door - they use it loads, but mostly climb on the roof.

squeaver · 28/05/2009 18:34

Yes and yes - but only when dd has friends round. Very very rarely on her own.

We got it from shedstore

Someone on here has an amazing one. It's like a proper house

thisisyesterday · 28/05/2009 18:37

ooh lots more replies.
we don't have room for anything huge, only a small one. and probably nothing that's raised as it's going to be in the front garden and the neighbours might not like a huge thing looming over them lol

fairly divided though it would seem, maybe i'll jujst have to get one and find out

HaventSleptForAYear · 28/05/2009 18:51

Don't say that geocentric!

Although we have friends round every week so at least it will get weekly use.

And we have a humungous garden so it seemed a pity not to have anything in it.

AND I quite like sitting up there myself while they run around.
