hiya

i havent had baby yet but have bought the hensvik cot from ikea and set it up as a bed side cot by not attaching one of the sides. it looks fine and like it will do the same job as an official "bedside cot" but at a normal cot price.

hobbgoblin · 26/05/2009 23:30

They move on wooden floors despite locking castors. I wouldn't buy again. In fact for baby 4 I have this instead which I will have hanging over bedside.

I had a Cosatto bedside cot for DS and it was fantastic. A perfect compromise for someone like me who was too paranoid to co-sleep. Now DS is 2.9 and we're using it as a bed with the side right down - more stable than a normal cot with the side off. Highly recommended. And ours wasn't expensive either, around £90 IIRC and it's very good quality. We got it from the Kiddicare website.

I have the Mothercare one, it is fab.
There is a gap though if you have a frame bed. We have pushed the cot mattress close to our mattress and stuffed a blanked down opposite side of cot.

Questions2008, the hensvik looks great! Do you know what height the higher setting is? Our bed is quite high.

chatname · 27/05/2009 13:13

We have used an Arms Reach Universal one. We found it very handy and well made; it is quite adjustable as to parents' bed height, with several different settings.

We've got a wooden one from John Lewis (I think it was called Global - bought it nearly 5 years ago now). Currently using it for dd2.

I love it. Couldn't do without it. It is true that it slips on wooden floors, but we've always just moved the bed to wedge it up against the wall. And yes, you do need an extra blanket to stuff down the side of the mattress. But it is still a marvellous thing.

We havw a brio one, it was given to us as a gift and was great as DD wanted to sleep touching me!

questions2008 · 27/05/2009 21:51

ceolas i measured it in store before buying but this was a while ago and i don't have a measure at home, but will try to get hold of one and will let you know!

beepbeep123 · 28/05/2009 23:51

If I Recall Correctly

Twinklemegan · 29/05/2009 22:59

It was definitely Kiddicare beepbeep. Olivia, I think the model was. But it was nearly 3 years ago and it looks like they don't do it any more.

There are places selling it - Google it. But I'm sure we paid under £100 and those are all nearly £200. I'm pretty certain it was on offer at the time - I do remember we thought it was a very good deal!

misdee · 29/05/2009 23:01

i have an older mothercare one, it still has the price tag for 2002 on it which says £149. i only know this as i recently put it up for dd4
