Maxi-cosi priorifix, do the covers come off?

DS has been a bit ill all over his Have dettoled it and I'm sure it's fine, but if the cover comes off would rather wash it like I used to do with the cabriofix. It seems to come off, but then gets stuck in places and I don't want to force it.
Also, does the seat come off the base bit?

the seat doesn't come from the base, but the covers should come off fully for washing. Do you still have the instructions? I'm sure it's in there.

does it? I couldn't get it off round the middle bits - in the cabriofix you could just kind of ease it round.
Well now I know it's possible I'll have a go, and look for the instructions, thanks

OK, a record of my fight for posterity and in case anyone else finds it useful.
Before you start, remove the seat from the car and lie it on the ground, using the foot to keep it propped at 45 degrees.
Tilt the seat back to the 'child sleeping' position, and unvelcro the bit that covers the adjustable shoulder straps.
Start from the top, unhooking all the way round the frame. At the very bottom, either side of the strap that goes in between the child's legs, the cover is hooked up underneath - this is why you needed it tilted back. It's not annoying little bits of elastic, like the cabriofix, but just two tiny holes in the fabric, which I hope will make it easier to put back on!
So now the cover is attached by the 2 shoulder straps, the two plastic things on the side and the between the legs strap.
Between the legs strap is just fiddly - do the material bit and the catch separately, and angle the catch to get it through the hole.
Shoulder straps: look under the cover at the bottom and you'll see two metal buckles. Feed these through all the holes (buckles and strap).
Now my nemesis - the side plastic bits. These clip off entirely - there's a little lever at the bttom of each one (under the seat) that does this.

Voila!

Oh, and their definition of easily removable is not mine!

i did both my maxi cosi priori seats last weekend, wasn't that bad once i'd detached the buckles from the seat.

StealthPolarBear · 23/05/2009 11:39

Grr
I'm sure the priorifix must be harder

This is why I use covers for my car seats (ie extra covers on top of the ones that are there already!) The priorifix is a blinking nightmare. The cover never went back on quite as neatly as it was originally. I'm lucky as I have a friend who manufactures car seat covers so I get them free or cheap as I help test them.

(Can I do a blatant plug for her? Site is www.mymoo.co.uk/ although I would say the maxi moo is currently a bit small for the priorifix - she's working on an updated design at the mo)

I'm sure you won't see this but Stealth I would just like to proffer my immense thanks for posting the results of your efforts for posterity, your post was enormously helpful for me and in fact came up right at the top on a Google search for Maxi Cosi Priorifix remove cover, so I'm sure you've helped lots more!

Thanks

OK, next question...I got mine off, but can't get it back on again so that the straps are adjustable. I can't figure out how to attach the straps underneath. Any tips?

Claire
