What really, truly works on stretch marks?

Have you tried anything to reduce the appearance of your stretch marks and found that it works?

Also if you got s marks after preg 1 did you try anything during preg 2 which kept new ones at bay?

Nothing works. Sorry.

Galava · 19/05/2009 22:38

Jumpers

TheCrackFox · 19/05/2009 22:55

Sorry, but nothing works. You would be a billionaire over night if you found the miracle cure.

Nothing.

Time will make them paler, but other than that, nada, sorry.

MrsMerryHenry · 19/05/2009 23:03

nothing but time?

They are the badge of honour you wear proudly for having had your DCs - or some such crap .

I think genes come into it as well: the only stretchmarks I have are on the outside of my thighs after ridiculous some weight gain as a teenager. No stomach stretchmarks after 3 DSs - and I was fat BIG. Not saying this to show off, it was certainly nothing special I did (not even BioOil), just trying to say it has nothing to do with what you did/didn't do/might do now.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 19/05/2009 23:08

Bio Oil is a huge lie sorry. Time improves them with or without Bio Oil so if you're using that then it just looks like the oil has done the trick. Con.

Whether you get them or not depends on a variety of factors- weight gain, skin elasticity, genes etc. Not lotions and potions.

MrsMerryHenry · 19/05/2009 23:12

Bad genes. How unfair.

Well thanks for your input, ladies. I shall be billing my DCs for the surgery in due course.

positive mental thought works....for about ten minutes.
I had hideous stretch marks after ds3 and joked to MW "they'll be up to my neck soon!" to which she replied, deadpan and totally seriously, "yes, some women do have them right up to their neck"

A blindfold?
A handbag sized hammer (possibly with a tastefully studded handle) to smash all mirrors ?

Sorry, I'm not being much help am I?

littlelamb · 19/05/2009 23:23

Nothing will work. Stretchmarks are not just for Christmas, they're for life
I didn't get any new ones in my second pregnancy though, and ds was almost a pound bigger than dd. And I was much more than a pound heavier

spikemomma · 19/05/2009 23:27

a vest. splash out - make it frilly!

MrsMerryHenry · 19/05/2009 23:31

Hoochie - I hope you've disowned your mama. What a terrible trick to play on a daughter: 'oh, I have these great genes - but you don't have them '.

I don't recall my mother having them, either. .

Right. In that case from now on I shall invest all our earnings on designer clothes to make me feel better.

Ahh. Feel better already

If anyone would ever dare pass comment on my stretch marks I just inform them that the crunpled look is in right now - and when it's not "in", I don't get 'em out!

MrsMerryHenry · 19/05/2009 23:36

I like your thinking! off to bed now, nighty-tight.
