All being well I shall be needing a double buggy next year - what are your recommendations and why?

Nipper 360 if you don't mind non rearfacing - light, nippy, although a little wide so check the width of your front door and gate first! Can be made very snuggly and cosy with a baby nest and head huggers for a newborn.

blondiep14 · 18/05/2009 19:57

Ah, that is the one I am looking at right now!
Is it ok getting in most shops?
Some reviews mention it tips??

It depends how much walking, getting on and off buses, shopping etc you need to do.

I had a Mclaren twin techno - it was fab!

Light weight/folds easily, good sleeping position, what will be the age gap?

blondiep14 · 18/05/2009 20:27

That is the other i'm looking at!

we do a fair bit of walking, no buses really. I don't drive but DP does, we have an astra estate but need to fit the dog in too!

DS1 will be 23 months when new baby arrives (everything crossed - still so early!).

i'd go for the nipper, i have a nipper single and love it so light, and thats what you will need to push a 2yr old and an ever growing newborn. i gave up on my twin mac when my 'newborn' reached 13m and his brother was 2.5yr as it was impossible to push too heavy with too lumps in!

laurz75 · 19/05/2009 08:00

Jane Powertwin is brill if you don't mind the tandem style rather than side-by-side.

mamadiva · 19/05/2009 08:01

Hi, the twin nipper is fab! My mum has 3YO twins and it pushes like a dream! It is extremely lightweight, folds to a decent size for a 3 wheeler and seems comfy enough.

The only thing ould be it's not good if your eldest does like sitting bolt upright as it's quite laid back when sitting up as the seats are slanted.

Other than that is fab!

mamadiva · 19/05/2009 08:08

Oh yes forgot to say if you are buying new it does'nt come (in most places) with a basket underneath but you can buy it seperate for about £15 IIRC, it does come drawstring storage bags attached to the backs of each seat though which is handy but would still recommend the basket.

It takes a few times to fold before you get it but once you've got the knack you'll be fine.

Not sure about the car boot as my mum could'nt fit the pram and dog in her Peugot 307 well not with enough breathing space for the dog anyway and she's a tiny springer!

Trying to think if there is anything else... can't think of anything.

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 19/05/2009 08:32

I never had the nipper double tip over, but have had it blow away at the park my own fault for not securing it properly though, but just shows you how light they are. I push 3yo twins in it and it's still light as anything, it's amazing. Handle is comfy too.

Phil and Teds. Worked wonders with a 25-month age gap!

FlyMeToDunoon · 19/05/2009 08:52

I went for a Phi and Teds and a 24 month gap, but my front door was too narrow for any side by side.

claret1980 · 19/05/2009 10:31

I have a Phil & Teds and it is fab! Mine have a 26 month age gap. It is great for walks.

blondiep14 · 19/05/2009 12:09

Thanks all so far, looks like the Nipper is in front so far.
Will be buying new I think.
I looked at Phil & Teds but was a bit worried the baby doesn't get much of a view!!

AstonMartini · 19/05/2009 13:08

The view thing was never a big issue for us (though getting the buggy through doorways and down narrow pavements was). On the whole, DS often ended up walking, and DD ended up on the top deck. It was just nice to have the top deck available for DS for when he got tired. DD never seemed to mind being 'downstairs'!

nicolamumof3 · 19/05/2009 20:59

i agree aston they don't mind at all! they don't know any different and tbh you normally have oldest in doubles seat behind as they are more likely to hop in/out.
