I'm fiding that we will be needing waterproof trousers for the winter months as the rain that we are getting now is totally soaking our trousers on every walk and it is uncomfortable

anywhere you can get nice colours for the kids, well and me actually

funky raincoats for the kids?

rainhats, can you even get these

can you get lined things or do you have to wear all your normal clothes underneath them?

all dog walkers/walkers experience wanted for walking in all weathers with children 9,4 and 2

thanks

DS4 has a regatta all in one from ebay for about £15, nice bright red, for camping.

The local camping store though does lined ones for £24, its just finding somewhere near you that sells them- but yes they're out there.

I prefer unlined as frankly we seem to need them as much in summer as winter in the UK!

Saltire · 18/05/2009 16:11

Trinity dear, I have lived in that region - you won't just need waterproof clothing for the winter, you'll need it for summer, spring and autumn as well

JackieNo · 18/05/2009 16:12

Muddy Puddles are good for the kids, also Little Trekkers. Somewhere like Millets for you, maybe (and possibly the kids too).

Egg · 18/05/2009 16:12

DD (16 months) has one of these from Togz which I love. Really waterproof with great hood. DS2 has cheapo one from Woolies (handed down from DS1) and it is nowhere near as waterproof (ok for showers but not for a proper walk in the rain).

Habbibu · 18/05/2009 16:13

ebay - you can get good quality stuff like muddy puddles for half the price.

Egg · 18/05/2009 16:15

Oh and I have a Berghaus (sp) jacket that I got in the Millets sale a few years back. It is more expensive than some waterproof jackets but actually KEEPS ME DRY, even in torrential rain.

DS1 has some great waterproof trousers with braces but MIL got them from Tchibo and they change their stock so often I doubt they still do them. He was splashing in big puddles yesterday and his trousers underneath were still completely dry.

JackieNo · 18/05/2009 16:17

Yes, I was going to say Tchibo too, but I've just had a look on their website, and nothing there atm, but worth keeping an eye out - they have a new range weekly. Like this, but nothing for children there.

Fimbo · 18/05/2009 16:21

I am going "home" in August and will be taking my winter coat with me.

Fimbo · 18/05/2009 16:22

T K Maxx sometimes have the odd thing. Cotswolds Company is quite good too.

TrinityIsLovingHerLittleRhino · 18/05/2009 16:34

Try Tiso, Trinity - they'll often have quite a lot.

TrinityIsLovingHerLittleRhino · 18/05/2009 16:39

I'd second muddy puddles - I've bought cheaper waterproofs from ebay etc (Bodge the Badger ones) before, and they split along the seams after not very many wears. Muddy Puddles are still going strong on second and third children. The pack-away ones seem to be just about as good as the originals and a bit cheaper.

Fimbo · 18/05/2009 16:41

Ah if you are near where Saltire was, it is the same neck of the woods as my inlaws. I will wave as we drive past!

Saltire · 18/05/2009 16:43

Ah no Fimbo - where Trinity lives is near where I'm from originally, my mum, DB and SIl and my house is there. The place near your ILs is where I lived for 5 years in a MQ. Miss it though

Fimbo · 18/05/2009 16:46

Ah. I know begins with D (or that area)? Maybe travelling that way up. Will wave anyhoo!

DownyEmerald · 18/05/2009 16:49

Got some used Togz from ebay. On their second child at least, and now working round to their second year on dd (they were too big to start - but very cute!).

Very impressed with them. Good seams. Velcro bits to hold in the big bits - I much prefer to elastication which is a huge pain with wellies. Also a velcro bit on the hood to reduce the volume which is good. Really do up well under the chin and have a nice soft bit against the face - which I always love in my waterproof gear!

I would def buy again - might even pay full price!

Once out of baby stage I'd get unlined, but then we go on weird holidays and use them as much if not more in summer than winter.

MmeLindt · 18/05/2009 16:50

I second (or third) Tschibo. Well worth keeping an eye out or registering for their email newsletter.

We have had several sets of waterproofs from them and they were as good as the more expensive ones that DD kept ripping.

They normally do lined ones, they have a fluffy fleece lining. I would put normal clothes on underneath if I were going somewhere that they had to take the waterproofs off. Otherwise tights, thermals or leggings.

JackieNo · 18/05/2009 16:52

DS had a fantastic snowsuit from Tchibo, with a jacket and trousers (all padded and lined, so no use for summer), and you could wear them separately, or they also zipped together. Really good.

Fimbo · 18/05/2009 16:52

MmeLindt - it's not Dundee (but maybe you already know that!).

MmeLindt · 18/05/2009 16:55

Oh, waving at the wrong town then. Sorry

Saltire · 18/05/2009 17:02

Another town beginning with D.

MmeLindt · 18/05/2009 17:03

There are other towns in Scotland?
