Best ISOFIX Car Seat for One Year Old?

Does anyone have any recommendations for this? Our DC is tall for age, is just about to hit one and we think is ready to go to a forward facing seat - her legs are a bit squashed with the rear facing one. It is crucial to us that we get an ISOFIX seat.
I have heard of the Maxi Cosi one, the Britax one and have seen the Mamas and Papas which would be the easiest one for me to pick up. BUT - does anyone have any practical experience of any of these seats? Which is best?

Thanks so much to any advice anyone has in advance!

We just got the britax one. It's a which best buy I think the maxicosi is as well but we like the headrest bit on the britax.
we did go to john lewis and make dd sit in them before we committed. Ended up getting from babies r us.

i've got the maxi cosi, it's fine. if i was buying now i might look more towards rear facing as much safer.

is her head coming out of th etop of her current seat and is she over 20lb weight?

I have a Britax Duo Plus for dd3. Its fab!

Agree that I would have looked a little closer at rear-facing ones if I were buying now ...

mrsjammi - if you don't mind me asking, how do you know your DS would hate a RF seat? Especially if he'd never been FF?

DD outgrew her infant carrier at 7 months, and the only larger RF car seats we could find were the Britax First Class (which was too big to be practical in our car) and the Concord Ultimax (which we bought). It served its purpose, but it was too low for her to see out the window and tight up against the back seat - and by 14 months she was getting pretty unhappy. We replaced it a couple of months later with a proper Grp 1 RF seat (a BeSafe IziKid) and DD loves it; she can see out of the window and although she can't stretch her legs out straight she seems perfectly happy with them bent / crossed / up the back of the seat. The only things we'd do different would be to have gone straight to the IziKid (we were told RF seats were illegal in the UK at the time), and to have got the IsoFIX version (which came out a couple of months after we bought ours).

If I wanted a FF Grp 1 seat I'd look very carefully at the Kidi Infinity Pro, which protects the neck by NOT using a 5-point harness (so the entire spine can flex and absorb the motion). Its had some very good reviews and is "safe enough" (its passed teh legal requirements), but I don't know enough about it to say whether I'd be comfortable using it or not.

For DS I decided on the Maxi Cosi Priorifix over the Britax as it looked more comfortable, with more padding etc.. I was deciding between them and went for it on that basis. But then (fortunately) the Mothercare carseat man was at lunch when I went to pick the Maxi Cosi up and his female colleagues couldn't get it into my car (it went in basically OK, but couldn't get the leg to lock into position). Nor could I.

Eventually carseat man came back from lunch and he got it in right away, but I still couldn't do it and nor could the other women -- we just couldn't put enough oomph into pushing the leg down. Which made it not much use as I was likely to be the one installing and uninstalling it.

By that point I'd already talked myself out of the Britax on the comfort factor, so just got the non-Priorifix Maxi Cosi Priori instead, which has been absolutely fine and is very easy to fix and transfer between cars even though it's not Isofix.

So... umm... I prefer the Maxi Cosi as a seat, but if going for the Priorifix version make sure you can install it in your car yourself unaided before you part with any money.

(DD is nearly 14 months, tall and heavy for age, and just about to need to move out of her first RF seat, I think -- planning to reuse DS's seat)
