1080p is the best on the market, its full HD. Contrast the higher the better and resolution depends on what you will be connecting to the TV - 1080p is fab but needs HD sky or blu ray to get the moneys worth from it.

What size are you after and i'll point you in the direction of a few.

sorry i forgot to come back!! 1080p, right, well if we are thining of getting sky then that would be better wouldn't it?? Would like eother a 35 of 37" really. Nothing bigger. We were looking in tescos at some but its all so confusing! lol

Your television picture is made up of lines. A normal tv has 625 lines. HD comes in either 720 or 1080. Obviously the more lines, the better the picture. I think the smallest 1080 is 37" but I would recommend it - it's amazing.

The i or p refers to how the picture appears on screen. p is for progressive so lines appear one at a time. i is for interlaced which means all the odd lines appear first, then the even numbers. You'd barely notice but p is supposed to be smoother.

I'm not a geek - honest!

If its just sky and not hd sky, unless you plan to get blu ray, then you dont actually need 1080p as you wont be watching anything in high def so may not warrant the price.

You can get a 1080p 32" for under £500 but may struggle to find a larger one for that amount.

Samsung, JVC or Sony always rate well and usually have good contrast etc as well as screen definition.

That one has a good number of HDMI ports, good contrast and is 1080p. Its only £534 on Amazon - had tv's from there in the past with no problems and excellent customer service.

Review on Amazon is good and quickly scanning a forum hubby ues (he's a tech geek lol) it says the blacks are good (he always says thats important)and a good spec for the money.
